go visiting other places without being upfront with coaches.
Dabo & co probably would've let it slide and allowed him to continue visiting other colleges if he said "Coach, I'm worried about getting into Clemson, I'm going to go visit some other places in case my grades for this semester aren't looking good enough for me to go to Clemson"
Instead he tries to do it behind their backs, and suffers for it.

just don't commit till you're ready to end your recruitment. If someone wants to come to Clemson but keep visiting, great, no problem, just wait on the verbal until you've looked everywhere

That if you commit and want to keep looking around. Give us a call and let us know what your plans are. No different than having a G F, and you tell her lets go steady and you're out with another girl tomorrow. It's ok to look, but don't say i'm interested in you. You are committed!!!

DigDoug, all the answers to your post are fine but they don't really answer the question you asked. If you are sure as a recruit that you want to go to Clemson, then commit, but remember that we are probably going to stop recruiting other athletes if we are only going to sign one person at your position. If you decide that after committing to Clemson, that you want to "look around" then be upfront about it and Clemson will open back up the recruiting for the slot you committed to. If we find someone else during this time, that is willing to be "all in" and we offer them a scholarship, and they accept, then "so long" to the commit that really was not committed!!! Doing a commitment to hold a place for you at a particular school while you continue to look around, is not good business or recruitment!! It is not rocket science, a commitment is a commitment, don't freaking look around after you commit or else, we will too!!!

was another factor. It was probably a matter of time before he de-committed anyway. It does send a good message to the guys we are starting to get in with though. Besides, Dabo appartently doesn't need our advice on recruiting.

The message is, you don't have to BS us. Keep looking to make sure we are what you want. Don't lock in a spot for yourself at Clemson if you're not 100% sure. The spot has to be filled, and if you are still looking around. We surely need to be looking in case you find some where you would rather be. If you are 100% sure we are what you want. We will stop recruiting that position if you stop looking. If you are still looking, we need to look also. The spot is no longer locked in for you. We are now recruiting for that spot. That my friend is only fair for everyone. Look at it like this. Don't worry, I'll be there to disarm the bomb before it goes off. BOOOOM the bomb goes off b/c I decided to disarm another one over yours. You're screwed b/c you trusted I would be there for you.

if we can get all three, it doesn't matter what RN does. That said, those 3 and RN and we would have a top 5 class and more importantly, most of the players making up that top 5 class, are on the defensive side of the ball.

we have a big need at DE even with Shaq Lawson coming in. We need somebody of the caliber of Nkemdiche or Carl Lawson as a pass rush threat.

Our coaching staff will make the right moves just like they have in the past. Best recruiting coaching staff I have ever seen at Clemson and I graduated in 1962.
