He could not do worse in that area than we have had lately. I hope he adds a new dimension to the Special Team play and we make that a strength, rather than the Achilles' Heel it's been.

I WISH THAT THE COACHES WOULD MAKE IT HARD - COMPETE TO BE ON SPECIAL TEAMS! Like the Army does in it's SPECIAL FORCES - the Rangers!

There's a limit on on the field coaches but you can have as many support staff, such as the quality control staff, as you want. Most of the time, quality control just watches a ton of film to help the coaches out

As many as you want to have. Bama's staff is enormous and Swinney, along with other schools, are copying their model.
Just can't actively recruit or be an actual on the field position coach.

Is it too soon to ask how this affects our chances with Deangelo Gibbs? I like our guys but our secondary is not at the level of LSU or Alabama yet in terms of depth.

Gibbs just transferred to Grayson in January so he hasn't actually played for Conn.

Tiger Board(s) isn't gonna like this

I remember when this was a sleazy recruiting tactic last month when Harbaugh hired a high school coach from a school that produced some big recruits.

Being a Dabo roommate at AL probably contributed to the long term friendship and trust factor. Glad to see our CEO/Head Coach is moving forward.

Had the same thoughts... but at least Dabo isn't spending the night at a recruit's house or driving a big-rig across the country to park it in front of some highschool as a recruiting tactic.

The double standard is palpable.

Harbaugh hired the Paramus coach a long time before Rashan Gary committed. I don't think this would help us with Deangelo Gibbs because he just transferred to Grayson and hasn't ever played for Conn

Conn is a long time personal friend, so it's a bit different

Not sure Harbaugh had a long standing relationship with Rashan Gary's coach.
Still though, it's not all that different ... so Clemson fans should not be too sanctimonious about Harbaugh's tactics.

He and the players know a good bit about crime, especially DUI.
And he can help with the 5 basketball players who were kick off the team for vandalizing Cootlumbia.

and not resigning under pressure for recruiting violations. I've felt like this hire was going to happen one day, but the timing is suspect, given the rumors that are flying down here in Gwinnett county.
