My guess I’d he will be drafted in the 1st 2-3 rounds, I would say he will go to the NFL. It would be wiser financially to come back & go out a high 1st round pick.

He'll be healthy by his Pro Day and be gone.

Completely agree...

He hasn't done much of anything this season to really enhance or elevate his draft stock.
In fact, the opposite may be true.

I agree. He hasn't played much for two years.

He would stand to do much better to come back and have a solid season to up his stock.

First question he needs to ask is who will be my QB. And will the best QB starting sooner rather than later next year?

Somewhat agree. But returning with DJ at QB would be another lost year for Ross.
Any insights on Ross 40 dash time?

If I'm an NFL GM, he's a real gamble to take really high at this point. He certainly showed out his first year. But the injuries have really set him back.

I don't see any way he returns to Clemson

The passing offense was terrible this year, and he already has good tape from earlier seasons. Next year's QB will be either DJ again or a true freshman, so it's unlikely our passing offense becomes an elite aspect of our team next year.
If Ross returns to college football in an attempt to put up huge numbers again, it would be in his best interest to transfer.

put up the huge numbers consistently. He has some great highlights, and the 2018 playoff run was truly incredible. That 2018 playoff is what he'll always be remembered for, and I am thankful for those performances, as, in that 2018 playoffs he had 12 receptions for 301 yards and 2 TDs in the 2 games.
In the rest of his career though, Ross only has two 100-yard receiving games. Those were a 3/103 game agains GA Southern in 2018 and a 9/111 game against South Carolina in 2019.
He's basically played 3 full seasons now, and he's had four 100-yard receiving games in his career. You look at Cornell Powell, who is not nearly as talented, and he had 4 such games just last season.

Excellent layout and analysis. I want him to come back and show out. All posts are valid in this thread. If I were advising him, I'd say try like all get out to play in the bowl game. I think with that, and pro day he'd get a lower mid round.
Is pro day enough? Probably for late round or perhaps practice squad, unsigned etc and some would pick him. If he gets a true projection of 5th round or better, take it. If not, come back.
No matter the QB, we'll be much improved as will our oline and screen blocking. Sadly, you'll have some good WR coming out this year. Think wake and Pitt where the xtra covid year helped their stock.

Hope so. He needs to show the scouts that he can play at a high level, and show he's durable. If he does, he should get drafted in the earlier rounds. If he goes out this year, however, I think he'll be a low round pick because of all the unknowns.

I'm sure Ross feels the urge to roll the dice in the NFL

draft but IMO he needs to stay another year. First thing the scouts will see is that Ross has had a ton of drops this year. For whatever reason, Ross has not played up to his ability this year and has had way too many drops for a guy aiming to go to the NFL. The next concern that NFL scouts may have is his durability. I think most pros would like to see him make it through a whole college season since he has not done that since his Freshman year.
I don't think anyone believes that Ross would be taken in the early rounds of this years NFL draft. That being the case, he has an opportunity to move into the early rounds of the 2023 NFL draft if he puts in another year of hard work at Clemson that results in a very good season next year.

The teams medical guys will make sure he is as fit as possible. It is a gamble either way for Ross. Stay and take the chance of getting hurt or go. If he goes and makes a decent career he will have one less year of mileage on his body and be one year closer to cashing in the big bucks if he plays well, 2nd round and below are only locked in for the four years. First rounders have the fifth year option. That is assuming he isnt a first rounder which I doubt any team would draft him that high.

I hope so. And I think the NFL needs to see more in order to be in top 4 or 5 rounds. If he can be fully healthy next year, I think he could be a drafted in 1st or 2nd round after 2022 season.

He’s a great athlete who has had some memorable playoff catches

but I’m afraid the injuries and inconsistency will overshadow that.
I don’t see him being drafted higher than the 6th or 7th round, even with impressive pro day and combine performances.
Despite that, I still expect him to go pro, simply because the injury concerns will remain regardless of when he goes pro. He’s probably thinking that it makes the most sense to make money while he can. Plus, what is the likelihood that he has a fully healthy season next year in college and has a scheme and QB that allow him to shine? That isn’t likely to happen at Clemson, and I don’t think he will transfer.

He will be a no later than 4th round but probably 2nd or 3rd round. Ross is more than talented enough, he showed he will play banged up & hurt.
If Trevor was passing to him this season his numbers would be much better. DJ misses the area code, slings bullets or throws behind him. It’s hard to not have drops when you don’t know what is coming.
DJ will work really hard to get this corrected, let’s hope it’s enough to get much better. DJ needs sports council more than restructuring his passes. I believe 90% of it is in his head. He’s really hurt by his parents separation, he’s a quite sensitive guy despite his appearance.
