What do you suggest we do?
1. Pay his buyout?? 2. Who are we attracting after paying said buyout?? 3. Would they want to come to the ACC?? 4. Do you really think they are going to make us elite again???
Tough questions to answer, but I’ve watched Clemson since the 90s and we have never been elite except for the time frame under Swinney. Demanding someone be fired isn’t always an easy fix.

I was for getting rid of Bowden, but the context is different. Bowden never won anything substantial and Dabo has. For the record, I am just has upset as other fans about the football teams recent performance and beyond fed up. However, it may be a more complicated fix than just firing one person. College football has changed and I am unsure if Clemson has the bank account to keep up.

Why can’t you understand that was before the NIL and Portal? Dabo has decided he isn’t going to be involved in that. This is a new world snd Dabo is stuck in the Middle Ages.

We aren't losing because we refuse to use the portal. We are losing because our coaching isn't up to par right now. The guys just aren't motivated, and on defense I think we are making it too easy for the opposing teams to move the ball. The QB has missed quite a few throws, and the receivers have missed a few balls.
We really don't look like we know what we are doing on too many occasions.

And riding this program down to the bottom. Our decline from elite to ACC middling team is all on him. And he doesn’t care one bit. He and his family and friends are getting paid handsomely for this crapshow.

With what money? That's the point of the original post.
Firing Dabo would cost us a $60 mil buyout. If somehow we could come up with that money (we probably can't), we'd have nothing left to pay a new coach the top dollar required to bring in a coach who could make a difference.
Clemson doesn't have the financial resources to throw money around the way elite programs do. We don't have the volume of donors giving medium amounts (thousands of dollars a year), nor the mega-boosters (millions a year) that other programs do. And the ACC TV revenue is much much less than Big 10 and SEC.
I'm as frustrated as everyone else with the product Dabo is putting on the field this year. But the math just doesn't work out to do anything but stick with him. Unless he walks away voluntarily, there's just not enough money in the IPTAY bank account to do anything else. We're stuck.

Clemson does pretty good. Top 17? That’s good enough to be competitive with the portal and HS players. The coach thinks he’s to good and above doing that.
But he isn’t to good to stick his hand out and cash those checks is he?

Yeah it should be embarrassing to us as fans. Dabo conned us into believing best is the standard and the best is yet to come. It's funny since he said that it's almost like the worst has come. Dude doesn't know what he's doing. You could pay another cash less than 11 million a year to be mediocre and lose.

Would a new coach who took advantage of the new tools take us back to the playoffs?? Nothing is guaranteed. It may happen, but it may not. There would most certainly be a rebuilding time frame. I want Clemson to win as much as anyone else, but this is not an easy fix. I guess some are too emotional to see that.

My answer isn’t to do nothing. I 100% agree that Neff should force him to adapt. However, I am unsure what leverage he has other than fire him. This might cost too much. Someone stated his buyout is $60 million. If those with power can arrange a plan where the program can afford it and get us back on track, I am for it. All I was doing is stating that it is complicated, expensive and I was unsure if we had the funding.

I’ve always been the biggest Dabo fan, but right now he’s simply not doing his job. You can’t just sit in a seat draw $11 million paycheck and not do your job. He needs to step aside and let somebody who wants to coach football take over. We appreciate everything he’s done, But continuing to make the same mistakes and running a team out there that looks like they don’t know what they’re doing is completely unacceptable.

Game is different now. Dabo doesn’t want to play within the guardrails now. Plenty of coaches would wan the opportunity, legacy and facilities- the “who would you get?” Is a red herring.

I agree that Dabo isn’t earning his paycheck. $11 million is far too much for the product we have. I am just unsure if we have the funding to fire him, pay his buyout, attract a quality coach, pay for talent via NIL and the portal, and keep up with the SEC and Big10 teams that make far more than we do on a yearly basis. It’s a complicated problem. Sorry if some didn’t want to analyze the issue. I have already stated that I am just as upset as I am a proud alumnus of Clemson (2013).

I agree that forcing his hand to use the portal is a must. If he resigns, it would be in the best interest of both parties as we could save revenue to invest in rebuilding. I hope those in charge have been saving to afford the rebuilding process.

If the AD tells a coach to make a change and they refuse, can the coach be fired for cause due to insubordination? With the portal, do coaches need long contracts anymore? I wouldn’t give a coach more than a four year contract and each season determines if they get another year added to it.

He will take Clemson back down where he found it. And Clemson fans will simply watch and complain without anything that can really be done.

Sorry, but the game has changed since Dabo was an elite coach. He hasn’t changed with the game. He chose not to adapt. It’s like a coach that won a lot before the forward pass was legal and that coach decided they still weren’t going use the forward pass in a game. How long do you think they lasted?
Dabo needs to get with the times or retire. If he doesn’t want to retire, either the fans accept going 8-4 or they pay his buyout. He’s stubborn and arrogant, but if he really loves Clemson as much as he says he does, he will do the right thing.
