But I know in a couple of years he'll get another raise and we can get closer to paying him what he's really worth.
Sorry you guys are miserable. Here's a link just for you Dabo Dumpers.

Ok, I'll bite pumper. Value is judged by the free market. When no one else wants to buy what I have, I don't respond by raising the price. I sit back and take what I can get for my product. The Chad has a higher ceiling in my opinion than Dabo at the moment, b/c he's the only one of the two that is getting outside offers. I agree About Dabo getting a raise, but disagree w/ the extension. That may be why "dumpers" are having a problem w/this. The only reason this became an issue is b/c the ole ball sac got his " hey god, you can coach here till ya dead!" contract. I, for one, do not feel we need to match USuCks desperation.

I like Dabo's contract because Dabo likes it.
Clemson is enjoying the best time in the last 25 years of our football history. If we want to be in the top ten, we must pay our staff a top ten wage. Well, we are there and we are paying that size wage to the staff. The fact Dabo is willing to take a smaller share to ensure his staff is highly compensated makes me think he is a smart guy.
So I like the contract if Dabo likes it. The buyout structure makes it clear he has no plans to leave, so he must like it.
Great contract for all. Keep winning.
For people who think Clemson could replace Dabo easily, ask Tennessee about their past decade. Or ask Alabama about the decade before they got Saban. Or ask Notre Dame how easy it is to get a new solid coach.
Most coaches at most places fail and are fired. We have a coach who is succeeding. We can and will keep him happy as long as he wins enough. Anyone who thinks he is not winning enough to keep is crazy as a loon.

Coordinators. In a world where their jobs depend on the head coach it must be comforting that they can plan their future with great certainty. Also they can stay with nice salaries until that perfect job comes open

Try again, leftie.
Don't try the Chad approach, Chad keeps his resume polished, Dabo doesn't. Hail, Dabo's allegiance is worth half a mil/year.

8 years and a huge buyout may be a little much
When your buyout is greater than any other coach in the top 10 including the last 10 national champ winners, people have a right to ask questions

People can ask all the questions they like. Most questions I've seen look uninformed about the market and, frankly speaking, pretty dumb.
The guy we have now has been a great recruiter. He has hired excellent coaches. He's won 32 games in the last three years, playing highly successful programs MORE times than anyone else in college football. He's won enough of those games to show he's good.
It's very hard to hire a good coach. When you get one, you gotta keep him and keep him happy.

I keep seeing garbage posted that no other teams want Dabo so why the big buyout.
How do you know that? Are y'all a fly on the wall?
Most teams do NOT release that info if there is just some contact.
I believe there has been some "feelers" for Dabo, otherwise there shouldn't be such a big buyout.

The big buyout is the evidence that Dabo is sought after?

My intent was to invoke emotions then squash them with extreme prejudice.
My attack plan didn't consider allied troops in the war zone. My pulse is a victim of my own ignorance.

I like the fact that Clemson now has coaching stability and a coach with head coaching experience. (issues that have hurt Clemson's recruiting and allowed South Carolina to make gains in recruiting)
However, in a world where things can change so quickly… I am concerned about giving anyone a contract for longer than 3 years. Signing Bowden for a 10 year contract (based on a #1 recruiting class) is what set Clemson back and allowed South Carolina to gain on the gridiron IMO. I hope Clemson doesn't/didn't repeat the same mistake with Dabo.
Dabo has earned his money, and is a great fit for Clemson. I'm just concerned about Clemson University painting itself into a corner.
