They could not be any more wrong. Just spent almost a week there. Amazing city. Loved it.
Found nearly every critique I’ve heard of it to be inaccurate.

St Germain is where it’s at. We’ll be there for a couple nights at the end of our trip early May. Cafe Atlas on Rue de Buci is money for classic brasserie grub & oysters

No repeats so far, but across different trips have stayed in Hotel Cler in the 7th, Hotel La Comtesse in the 7th, and Villa St Germain de Pres. Staying in Hotel Welcome in St Germain for a couple nights in May at the end of our trip to Burgundy.

With a large tourist group that I had been going around Europe with. We went to moulin rouge and hit up some of the bars on Friday night. Great time.
Then Saturday the group trip was over and everyone went on their way and I stayed an extra 4 days at Hotel Régence, which is an old but quaint place in the Place de Clichy area. (Not far from moulin rouge).
I’m a big art museum fan so I went to Louvre, O’Orsay and Orangerie to see the amazing water lillies display.
Didn’t get to do the Monet specific museum, but maybe next time.
Also spent a day just wandering around Le Marais and the Latin quarter. And another day doing Arc de Triumph and shopping down Champs Elysees. And on the final night had dinner at a real nice bistro (amazing beef bourguinon). There was an Australian model in town for work who was there alone, so I just joined her and we had a nice chat, meal and walk afterwards near the Eiffel Tower.

And she said she tends to get a lot of work in Paris because of that.
Orangerie is kinda small. The bottom floor exhibit was kinda underwhelming tbh, some artist who was obsessed with frames and had a lot of blank ones. But the Monet exhibit is well worth the €11 entry fee alone. Two large rooms with the massive water Lillie paintings. You can spend decent amount of time in there just taking it in.

Super clean, beautiful city close to mountains, really friendly laid back people. I think one of the most impressive things about Vienna was, in a city of a couple million people, I heard two car horns whole time I was there and those were absolutely necessary. Definitely felt like a high culture group of people.

Rome is meh. Zermatt is where you can get #### New year's Eve. Grindelwald is ok. Zurich is money.
Munchen is ok. Amsterdam is awesome because horze on swings who take Amex. Paris is meh. Madrid is ok, but Toledo is awesome. Marbella is great, along with the Spanish Riviera (clothes optional). Gibraltar is meh (buncha monkeys running around). Tangiers is ok, if you're not a woman. Athens over in Greece has the best food on Earth. Delphi is ok, great food. Florenze is pretty nice as well.
Haven't been anywhere else .......in Europe

People always talk about Parisians being rude. I've never encountered that. The rudest person I've ever met in Paris was from NYC.

For things to see, it’s up there. For people interaction, #### that place. The smaller towns and villages are the way to go, much friendlier and laid back.
But I approve of the whole country having an informal ban on leggings, pajamas in public, etc. I approve of adults dressing like adults.

There’s definitely a lot more charm as you get into smaller town, but logistics get more difficult too. No Ubers or cabs in small towns, and way way fewer people speak English. We had a hard time w transportation in Annecy and Chamonix a couple summers ago, but I learned a good lesson about staying really close to the train station.
I’m renting a car in Dijon in May, this will be my first time driving in Europe. We want to explore smaller villages in Burgundy and Alsace, and having a car just seems like easily the best way to do it. Planning to spend time in Beaune and all the wine villages between beaune and Dijon, Vezelay, Chateauneuf-en-Auxois, Colmar, Riqueweir, Eguisheim, and Bresse.
