I believe it is the lack of development by the coaching staff. I see plenty of talent on the field but it doesn’t get better game to game or year to year.

That is ridiculous. Losing games is not a result of not using the Portal and not developing players, it is a result of not having as much talent in the 20-24 seasons as we did during the 14-19 seasons. With all the returning players and the projections of NFL draft picks, this was supposed to be the year but when we lost to LSU, the train derailed and it has to get back on the track.

I believe it’s a portal and the players got jealous when some other players got contracts they were greater than theirs and thought if you’re not gonna pay me the same thing I want blocked for or I won’t rush the quarterback

sorry not just kids playing football. they are kids making millions and when no performing they should get fired. Next will we further kill this sport with HS pay and #### those poor pop warner kids need recognition!!!

Totally agree. Could we have enhanced our roster, yes. And remember, we have like 10 coaches to every group. Dabo's gouged Clemson athletics in order to give friends and family a nice paycheck. People won't like that statement but it's true... whether he's earned the right to do it, it's still wrong. Plus, you don't need that many coaches.

I agree, majority of pay should be to get players. X’s and O’s only get you so far. It’s the Jimmy and Joes that get you to the national championship. Mind you having plenty of coaches isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but we don’t need them coaching but rather evaluating talent, seeking potential transfer options, watching other teams films to get advantages.

lack of elite talent where we used to have it (ie QB, WR, RB, etc...)
Dabo's resistance to change with the times......
ALL have in contributed to Clemson's demise.........not just one thing and not excluding one thing, it's all of the above.

I believe it is the lack of development by the coaching staff. I see plenty of talent on the field but it doesn’t get better game to game or year to year.
1) Clemson lacks depth at all positions. This lack of depth creates a lack of competition for reps and playing time at all positions. This lack of depth and competition creates comfortability and lack of effort for some (not all) starters.
2) The Clemson roster is a mix of starters, potential future starters (under utilized underclassmen), and masses of walk-ons (many given scholarships). The drop-off between starters and non-starters is enormous.
3) While the portal is too often portrayed as a quest for 4 and 5 stars, the true value of the portal is building team depth and competition at practices and on Saturdays.
Agree with you. Development is also an issue. But development can be difficult in a caste system with little competition between players.

It’s a mixture of both.
Poor job of developing talent by an inept coaching staff and a poor job of using the portal to bring in talent for not only talented depth but to also to push the guys in front of them to be better than they are.
There’s a huge complacency problem within the football program, where guys know there’s not a real threat to lose PT bc of poor production.

you are correct in that it is coaching. However, if you look at our team closely, there is a definite lack of talent and speed that we no longer have. We dont look big and physical like other teams anymore. During the title runs, we looked the part when we stepped off the bus, no longer is that true. The lack of talent also falls on coaching for not using the portal eben when recruiting was tanking the last couple years. You cant be content to sign a recruiting class when your opponent are doing that and getting a portal class on top of that. We have been essentially letting our opponents sign 2 classes per year to our 1. That is not sustainable and is the reason we have lost the big talent advantage we once had over our ACC foes.
