If Dabo gets us to the final 4 a couple of times and then has a couple of down years will you call for his head?
I'm embarrassed by all the hate and frankly doubt any decent coach would want to follow him. Reminds me of Tenn and Phillip Fulmer. Karma is a biotch.

I didn't expect Dabo to fire Steele after we won the ACC.

But perhaps that's the difference between Dabo and you.

To evaluate someone you need to see where he is resourced to finish.Clemson Athletics is resourced to be 6th in the conference.Football is resourced to be 4th.Baseball is resource to be 6to 8 depending on the year. Some of the shortfall can be offset with special admission players.Clemson has none. Player amenities at the stadium have been in the bottom of the conference per Mahoney.Player amenities are being fixed.ACM is used by nearly every one except Clemson. This next year clemson is participating in ACM.Cicumventing the 11.7/34 rule occurs at nearly every school Clemson plays. The issue is not going to be fixed. When you look all of these factors, Clemson needs the AD to address how the program is to be resourced to be successful regardless of who the coach is.The resource regarding dollars spent is in the Knight Commission report. The info is revealing.

Nobody's hating but time for new leadership. Jack had his chance, made a boatload of money and now it is time for someone else? What I don't get is how folks can be satisfied with average.

jstone: I agree with you. I certainly don't "hate" Jack. I do believe and know that time has passed him by for whatever reason. His recent performances have not been good in that our players do not appear to be improving. They lack some basic skills that should be present at Division I level. Retire Jack, thank him for his service and move on.

tournament. Play is not fundamentally sound which has lead to the consistently inconsistent program he now runs. Sometimes, it's just time for new blood to jumpstart a program. The man has had a decent career and it doesn't last forever.

It should NOT remind you of UT and Fulmer at all. Nothing could be further from the truth. The real underlying problem is not that other coaches not wanting to follow Jack as this is an excellent gig (you barely have to win 1/2 of your games). The real problem is CLEMSON Admin/AD not pursuing veteran coaches with proven track records. They'll go after some rookie with a decent record and hope for the best. Sorry you are unable to see that trend. Just stick around for the next 40 years and you'll catch on.

Unfortunately true.
Should Jack Leggett retire, quit, or be removed, I can see the current AD making a budget, up and comer hire and hope they pan out.

I don't follow Tiger baseball very close but enough to know how they are doing. I've been critical of Jack at times. I realize coaches are judged on wins and losses. Jack is a fine coach. Yes he has his weaknesses but so does every coach in every sport. As a coach he has to re-enforce fundamentals, recruit the best possible players (which is a catch 22 in this era), make pregame/ mid and post game decisions. Much like Tommy Bowden, this is IMO is his biggest flaw. He seldom makes in game decisions and adjustments. At times he is willing to risk things when there is little or no need. But other times he will not risk it when the moment calls for it.
Another thing to take into account is that if we recruit players at the very top of the food chain, it is very likely that player will never touch the field for the Tigers because they go high in the draft. Sure the same thing applies at every other school, but Clemson program has struggled to get a good share of the top tier guys that didn't go pro.
Another fault is his unwillingness to play "small ball". Ray Tanner when he was at Sakerlina, was the master. Small ball with a couple of power hitters along with great defense = national championships. IMO Tanner was far and away the best college baseball coach in the country. If Jack were to critique and study Tanner's methods. Try to incorporate his philosophy.
In Jacks's defense, he is not on the field making throwing errors, fielding errors, not catching foul balls, walking back to back hitters, getting late jumps on steals, striking out, etc. I think everyone would be in agreement that Jack, at the very least was at some point a good coach. He's had some great teams and well coached teams. He didn't suddenly forget how to be a successful coach

Ray tanner spent more money than any college coach in the nation for over 10 years. The closest team to him was Florida which spent $48,975 less per player per year .

10 runs to Furman in first two innings while committing 5 errors was embarrassing. The sixth error came later in the game. It is good it WAS Furman. Otherwise, it would have been more embarrassing.
