I certainly do. My CU diploma frame is made from the wooden seat planks.

Actually, my freshmen year at Clemson was 1972. After I got my B.S. in Construction Management from Clemson in '76 I went on to the National Academy of Nuclear Training. I retired at 55. Now I am 69, I can build my own computers.

I studied computer programing at Clemson before the imputation of the microchip when computers were the size of a room room and you programed with 'punch cards'. During '77 after microchips were introduced to personal computers I bought one of the first personal computers of the day the Coleco Adam. (Google it) I call my cell phone my electronic brain because of some of the apps on it.

It may be funny to pick on the old people but I think College was much harder in those days. Case in point was freshman English. I seem to remember that every Friday you had to write a few pages of something that you got to pick from 5 topics And if you got more than 5 words misspelled, it was an automatic 'F'.

If any your English courses were anything like those courses, I wonder how many people would pass those courses now.

many buildings left from my 1972-76 timeframe that are still around and untouched. Earle H.ell, the Chem E building, is one of the ones that still looks pretty much the same, though. No more Clemson House, no more Johnstone, even, at least not as we knew it. And, Tillman Hall is no longer Tillman Hall, but back to being Old Main.

The biggest change that makes me feel REALLY old is that of the Student Union. What is now the "old" Student Union was brand new and just OPENED during my time at Clemson, and now, at least some of it is being razed to make way for further changes. As far as Death Valley is concerned, even though there have been, and continue to be, many changes, at least Howard's Rock remains, and the fact that the Valley remains in its original location despite all the changes around it is somehow comforting to this old alumnus.

I also just flat out LOVE The Scroll of Honor and Memorial Plaza that was added across from the Valley a few years ago. Clemson has a rich military history that should never, ever be forgotten. Time will always march on, including changes in the landscape at Clemson. But, at least, we always take the time to remember where we came from, and salute that history.
