I’ve never believed Adam Randall would remain RB1 for the full year. He just doesn’t have a high enough ceiling.

This would be the perfect game to get EZ and Gideon a lot of touches. It’s abundantly clear that our running game has to be a factor.

EZ and Gideon will get a lot better with more touches. Feed them early and often next week.

If our offensive line continues to play at this level, all RB;s will be hair-lipped and eating through a straw by season end.

I agree. It was more on the line.

Interior run blocking was horrible. Randall actually seemed pretty quick to me.

Agreed. Davidson shouldve been given oppurtunity last night to touch the ball. Tired of Dabo holding the freshmen hostage due to seniority.

What was the cause of our ineffective running game last night?

1. Gave up on it too early?
2. Needed to use different RBs?
3. Offensive line blocking (scheme or execution or talent level)?
4. RB coaching?

Hoping Dabo figures this out and fixes it.

Starts with playcalling. Cant evaluate anything else on such a small sample size, felt like Clemson back when Spurrier was whipping Dabos ###. Super one dimensional offense.

We had a converted failure at WR playing RB. That was the problem.

I will say he has our only touchdown of the season lol. Is that a positive?

It was a positive that Randall uses his weight and frame. But there’s no question that he is the worst RB of all the teams that have national title aspirations.

I will agree with that. But we need to scheme a run game. The runs that worked both time were sweeps or reverses to wide receivers. Running to the outside. Ironically that’s what teams try to do to us.

Right. But it’s a lot easier to scheme a running game with an actual threat at RB. We don’t have that.

Adam Randall should be used in a H-Back role. That was how it looked when we played our two-back set last night. (I’ve been bashing G.Riley today, but will give him credit for trying the 2 back sets.)

Unfortunately, except for that one play in Q4 when A.Ransall was pass blocking, then slipped out into a short opening in the LSU defense and caught a nice psss for (I think it was) a first down, then slipped out pass catching part of the A.Randall - H-Back experiment wasn’t being utilized.

I very much hope that the Adam Randall / H-back experiment gets some more work. His pass protection wasn’t horrendous (although he needs more work) and his run-the-ball production was not limited because of poor RB skills. Our OL didn’t run block well end LSU’s LBs played their gaps well … and tackled very well.

The very limited PT for G.Davidson wasn’t because of G.Riley (or Dabo) being dumb. G.D. was simply not ready to be trusted vs a top tier opponent.

Against Troy, I will be very disappointed unless all of our RBs get multiple running attempts.
