A lot of talk here on Dabo and hiring his family and buddies. One more I had no clue on......did you know that our Director of Recruiting is no other than.......President Clements freaking son?

Milk that cash cow as long as you can. I guess if you put the president's son on a teat, your family and friend's teats are safe.

Go look at all the other blue blood programs it's the same way. Ohio St, Michigan, Alabama....they all hire from within, former players, friends, family in supporting roles....it's just the way it is and has been.
It's not just a Dabo thing....

than we do.
Look at their resumes. Some of them have coordinators who were NFL coaches, coordinators elsewhere, etc. Their position coaches tend to have prior coaching experience before being hired there.
Dabo hires unqualified assistants way more than most other programs do, and that's the main reason why we have seen our player development suffer and our results suffer.

I didn't speak to the qualifications of those hired. I only said hiring within aka Nepotism is a common practice across major football programs.
The OP title is Dabo and nepotism...that's what I responded too.

Who cares. It's just not a good look. Especially since the President wields so much power over the Athletic Dept. Of a public tax supported institution.

Holy crap what’s next? He’s gonna hire his dog as the official guard dog of Clemson?
Nepotism is a bad deal, I watched it destroy two companies, when my father was an investor in and another that I worked for. The hiring of buddies and family members took those businesses down.

Tracy hangs out at the bars around Clemson and Seneca, not an overly bright dude. Would be flipping burgers if brother dabo hadn’t hooked him up with his high paying clemson gig.

While. They "promoted" Sorrels to general manager which is the new title all of the head recruiting guys have now in the NIL era. Clements is basically a glorified event planner helping with on campus events like the cookout. They changed his title to director when Sorrels was promoted.

Charge of our recruiting efforts; he is not. He’s been on staff 9 years and started out as an intern; is there no length of time where he can prove that he deserves his position or is he forever tainted because of his last name?

the job does not exist simply to hire him. He coordinates the on campus activities during visits; we would need to hire someone to do this job even if Clements had no children. I agree the salary is exhorbitant, but how much does Bama, Jawja, 0310 state pay the same role at in their program. It’s a symptom of the total bloat in all of college athletics not a particular indictment on Dabo’s program. When you’re bringing in $100M a year in revenue, don’t have to pay the athletes, and aren’t allowed to retain any profits since you are technically a non-profit entity; then you can spread the wealth by overpaying admin roles. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with positions like these when they have to start paying the players from univerity revenues.

Based on that information. Dabo isn't going to change and he definitely isn't going anywhere. I don't want to see the best coach in Clemson history fired, but he definitely needs to adapt to the ever changing college football landscape.

We're screwed, plain and simple. Dabo doesn't even approach a mediocre Xs and Os coach and now we know his hires for the most part aren't either. I think Riley has the potential to be a good OC if Dabo would quit meddling.
