4. South Carolina: From the time he sat down until the time he got up and walked out, just 62 seconds had elapsed. Steve "Spurrier gave his statement, and he was done. "Just not good enough," he said. "Not good enough to hold the lead. Not coached well enough overall as a team. I've done a lousy job maximizing what we think we got here. We can score a few points, but we find a way to lose. Yeah, this is a tough one."

Debate if you like whether Spurrier should have taken questions about South Carolina's 45-42 overtime loss to Tennessee — Spurrier has never cared much about good form, though it should be noticed his coordinators and players didn't have a problem doing their typical media obligations — but he certainly didn't leave much to the imagination about how he felt.

This has been a nightmare season, one Spurrier surely wishes would end soon — and it might, given that the Gamecocks need to win either at Florida or South Carolina to become bowl eligible. Spurrier has missed the postseason only once at South Carolina, and he hasn't suffered a losing record in college since his first team at Duke went 5-6 in 1987. So this is a big deal, and even though we've known for a while that South Carolina isn't a high-quality team, it's still stunning to see the ways in which it has collapsed.

Though it's not statistically impossible to blow a two-touchdown lead with fewer than five minutes to go without committing a turnover or losing an onside kick, it's highly improbable. But this South Carolina team is bad enough to do it, allowing a 75-yard drive and an 85-yard drive to Josh Dobbs, who tied the game with 11 seconds left. Now the question will be whether Spurrier is miserable enough to just walk away after this season. You wouldn't think so given the way South Carolina has recruited, but he's said many times he has no interest in being part of mediocrity and walked away from Florida the minute he felt like things were turning negative on him."

Really? "The Gamecocks need to win either at Florida or South Carolina to become bowl eligible." I'm fascinated that they could potentially lose to themselves.

I wallow in their misery.

Did you notice that he called us ' South Carolina'? he said

It in the section about how they needed wins over Florida or South Carolina( he meant us). I was a little sick after reading that. Definitely insulted. This guy needs to get a clue and issue an apology. There are worse things to be called, but I can't think of one right now. HANG HEEM!!!!!!!!

I think when he says at South Crolina, he means their home game vs South Alabama. Florida and South Alabama are the two lesser teams left on South Carolina's schedule and I assume that he thinks that those two are the only ones that South Carolina has a chance at beating. Meaning he thinks the Clemson game is an automatic loss for the dirt pickers ;)

You are probably right. That is a bit confusing.
