Why does the article call this cheating? That's ridiculous. It's not cheating. If your signals are going to be basic enough to where an opponent can get them that easily, you're asking for them to know what you're doing.
Change the signals or run the play in. Simple. It's not cheating.

Yeah......probably should've stole some players to execute it too. If they were stealing with those results, they are the ones that look like idiots.

We were stealing the signals in that game

The strength coach's brother had a knack for stealing signs. He caught up to Carolina's quickly in that game and they never changed them. He picked up Tennessee's also (early) ... Fulmer said after the game that he though Clemson knew what plays they were going to run but he couldn't figure out how.

If you're too dumb to disguise your signals better than that it's your own fault if they get stolen. I've believed the same to be true in baseball for years as well.

certainly Ga Tech wasn't owned. nor BC. nor Va Tech.
to be owned by Tommy Bowden in football...
that may be the saddest comment I've ever heard about the Coots yet.

Three months ago this was Crump:
http://www.tigernet.com/update/player/An-anonymous-coach-discusses-opinions-Clemson-23745
"Defensive coordinator Brent Venables does a great job, but he’s late getting his calls in," anonymous coach said. "That’s because they’re probably as good as anybody at stealing signals, and Venables is waiting to see your offensive call. [Clemson declined to comment.] And because they’re so multiple on defense, they’re prone to being out of position. They’ll line up late, and you can get a guy running free."
If the opponent's signs are so vulnerable that teams can easily understand it during the contest, I think it's past due time for the school to introduce some new preventive measures.
Now he's calling it cheating.

Not Cheating

I've never believed that "stealing" signals is cheating in any sport. The point of a signal is to be able to communicate to your players without the other team being able to figure out what you're about to run. If the other team is smart enough to figure it out (or if you're dumb enough to make it simple enough to figure out), change your signals.
