Howard's Rock

Nov 17, 2014, 8:09 AM

It has been 1-1/2 years since Micah Rogers and Alden Gainey allegedly damaged The Rock. Last I heard the trial was to be this fall around October. Does anybody know the status?

Makes me wonder if someone is trying to sweep this under the rug.

I deal with this on a regular basis. Cases generally take 12-18 months in the 13th Circuit with a lazy defense attorney. More if they press the issue or are worth their salt. I doubt anything will come of this in less than 2 years, it's not uncommon.

As for someone wanting to sweep this under the rug, Walt Wilkins is the 13th Circuit Solicitor. Wilkins? Why is that name familiar? That's right, David Wilkins, Chairman of the Clemson Board of Trustees, is Walt's UNCLE. I doubt Uncle David wants his Nephew to sweep this under the rug.

These things take time - lots of time - when attorneys get involved. Eventually, it may be pled down, or the subject might be eligible for PTI depending on his record. PTI is not what most on T-net are looking for, but the one positive about it is that it's expensive. Real expensive. With the charges on the other family members, including Dad, I doubt that will be an option.

Patience my friend. I'm not trying to advocate for this being a fabulous system. Just telling it like it is, by my experience.

With all his success, his highest salary was $25,000 a year. The president of the university, Dr. R. F. Poole, feared that professors who earned less would be upset. "He called me up and said that he didn't want me to tell anybody what I made," Howard once said. "I said: 'Doc, you don't have to worry. I'm as ashamed as you are of what you pay me.'
