Dabo Needs At Least One More Season

I've been on the fence ever since the L-ville loss. I've calmed down and wanted to think this out. I'm such a big fan of Dabo and want him to succeed so bad for many reasons. I want him to tell the national sports media what to do up a rope for doubting him. Sadly that's not happening.
At what point is it time to think about the next HC?. In the first season of a 12 team playoff in the ACC we can't make the title game or break the top 12. Heck, SMU is a better program than Clemson right now.
Winning 10+ games in the SEC and missing a playoff isn't nearly as bad as doing this as an ACC team.
Are we heading for a Tommy Bowden program not able to win big games anymore or is this just an adjustment period until Dabo gets better players? I don't know.
It's my feeling that Dabo should get another year to see if Cade can finish his time at Clemson and hopefully get this team over the hump and competitive as a national program.
Now if we go on a losing streak at the end of this year and drops games to Pitt, VT and the Coots then all bets are off. Negative recruiting we decimate us.
Here's to hoping for a strong finish

Dabo needs a lot more than one or two 9 win seasons to be run off. He's earned that leash. Whether fans like it or not, it's going to take a couple 7-5, 6-6 seasons before we start discussing moving on.
I'm fully confident that Dabo is the man that CAN right the ship and return us to the top of college football, the question is WILL HE compromise morals and things that he believes in to do so? I.e. not paying players, high graduation rates, 4 year commitments to players and not running off the "missess." I don't believe he will, and therefore all we can hope for is something in the middle... something between the "moral high ground" and "whatever the #### Kirby Smart is doing in Athens."

But he has though lol. Send an email to Neff and see how fast he just deletes the email. Whether you like it or not, the fans will lose faith in him 2-3 years before he actually loses his job.

...he's just going to keep collecting his $11 million annually without getting commensurate results?
If that's the case, it's pretty hypocritical.

How much money do you think he should be paid annually? He is 6-2 and has a chance to finish the year with a 10 win season. He also became the all time win leader in ACC play this season. Should he be paid the same as Norvell ? Should he be paid the same as Hugh Freese. What about Brian Kelly? What about Marcus Freeman who loss to northern Illinois. What about you he great Lincoln Riley should Dabo be paid the same as him?

The best coaches will be the ones who can thread the needle and find the balance between maintaining a values driven culture and still winning at the highest levels. Either way, change will have to be part of the equation.

Our current roster in ranked top-5 of all CFB rosters in the nation. We have the talent on the team. We don't have the talent on the staff.

Not at DE. The falloff in talent is such that we had to move PWood. The depth at that position is suspect, and teams now know it and take advantage.

Please stop with this nonsense.
It may be on paper… our roster is top 5 but that’s not the case in reality.
This roster is not one of the best 5 in college football. They’re easily 25/30 guys on this roster that have no business being on scholarship at Clemson.
This is a massive misconception. This roster has holes all over the place.

We also don't have the depth when one of those top talents go down. And we are really screwed when several of them go down...

Well said but this has been a four year decline.

Years before it was offensive failure and now it’s the defense.
There has been a lot of bad coaching hires and complete roster mismanagement responsible for this slide. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the blocked FGs.

That's why I'm on the fence. The decline is a real thing. If Dabo wasn't such a likeable coach and a genuine good man it would be much easier to want to cut bait and move on.

In the business world, business 101 teaches that you should not put off making a decision that you know you will eventually have to make. Cut your losses and move on. Letting the problem continue to get worse only means it will be more difficult and take longer to correct. And in some cases, if you delay too long, your business may never recover.
Dabo is not going to change. You don't win the conference and CFP games without the talent on the field, both coaching talent and player talent. Winning the big prize gets the attention of the best talent. But in the new college landscape,, you have to pay for the talent. That's why you need not delay the decision to replace Dabo if he is unwilling to pay for the HS talent.

I’d say he’s calling for Dabo to be fired right now.
“Cut your losses”
You’ll know something about losses, both in terms of games and personnel, if that were to happen.

Folks need to be careful about thinking of a next HC. We could wind up with Jimbo Fisher or worse.

I will ####*D but my point here is it's much more reasonable to talk about the future of our coordinators than it is our head coach.
Dabo isn't going anywhere until he decides he is done. Now that decision may be sped up by Neff and the board if tension begins to arise but the idea they are just going to up and fire Dabo just isn't likely

We will find out this Saturday....this will tell us alot if he can still light a fire under this team and close the season on a high note. I said 10-2 before the season and I hope I'm right. I never thought we'd get ousted from the ACC championship game though.

I can't totally agree with you but I will say that SMU isn't a better program than us or really not a better team. Lets say we played Auburn in place of Ga. We would probably be at one loss,SMU has a loss I believe. We lost to a team Sat. night that caught us with our head in the turf.It happens. Don't lose heart, just hang in...we will survive.Go Tigers.

We have to fish with Dabo...keep in mind how much money it will cost to get out of the ACC...you want to buy out Dabo's contract in addition to that? Or do we give up completely on the ACC cut out and try our luck (it will be pure blind luck) with another coach. We could easily go 15 years getting a new head coach that works. Look at FSU. A diamond program and has yet to be able to replace Bobby Bowden. It been 15 years and they are not there yet. It is a way bigger gamble to go to a new coach than sticking with the guy that took us to the championship game 4 times.

As a leader, my toughest discussions were with long time sales reps who had a lot of past success, but had peaked and were no longer willing or able to continue to do what made them successful, or to adapt to the industry changes that meant they would need to adopt new selling activities/approaches in order to continue to be successful.
Hanging on to them and hoping they just figured it out on their own was never the answer. I gave them opportunities and expected results and when they wouldn't step up to the plate, then the hard call had to be made. A business survives on revenues and margins. A college football programs survives on talent and execution that lead to wins.
Give the man a chance, but make the expectations crystal clear, and hold him accountable for the results.
