Just a thought...What would a kid with NIL of $1,000,000 need with a scholarship?

They should want to have some knowledge in how to invest their money and not go on a spending spree.A four year degree in business and economics would come in handy, that is unless they have enough to hire high dollar lawyers and take a chance on them stealing their wealth.

He has to be enrolled as a student to play. Without a scholly he can't play because he can't be a walk on.

I think under the new rules in July 2025,there can't be any walk on. Maybe I'm wrong.

This is categorically false

The new rule doesn’t eliminate walk ons. To the contrary what it eliminates is mandatory full scholarships. All sports will have a maximum roster size and the school determines how many of those roster spots will receive a scholarship and how much of a scholarship it will be (anywhere from 0% to 100%).
Clemson has announced they are going to have more scholarship athletes but not how many will be in each sport. Baseball currently has 11.7 scholarships but next year will have 34 roster spots. I suspect most of those will be a full scholarship. For football my guess is that the guys filling slots 90-105 probably won’t get a full scholarship. We’ll see though.

He's right. In practice, I think walk-ons are going to disappear. But there CAN be walk-ons under the rule.
Under the old rules, schools could have 105 players on their active roster at any time. You could exceed 105 for players who didn't dress out for games (like scout team players). For example, we had 121 players on our roster this year. However, only 85 of those players could be scholarshipped. So in practice, we've had about 85 players with full-rides, and then about 35-40 players who walked on without scholarships. When we were really dominant and beating teams by 40 points a game and playing 100 players, Dabo would tweak the active roster to allow some of those players to get a chance to play at least a few downs in death valley.
Under the new rules, the 105 is a bright line rule. You can only have 105 players, period. And all of those players can receive full-rides, under the school's discretion. So those 16 excess players are out of luck. For the others, it's up to us how many are scholarshipped. We can still take walk-ons if we won't. Now, here's the thing, and where I disagree with TX Tiger. I am skeptical we will take any non-scholarshipped walk-ons. Here's why.
We are now allowed to give full-rides to 105 players. Other schools are going to use that to increase their recruiting classes to the maximum. I would expect UGA, Alabama, and Ohio State to still sign 25-30 person classes, process those that don't make the 105 person group, and then give all of them full-rides. I don't think Dabo will ever be comfortable processing 15-20 players as a general matter. But there's no way we'll only sign 80-90 scholarship players and then fill in the rest as a general rule either, because that would destroy our functional depth compared to all our peers. I suspect we'll aim to fill our roster with 105 scholarship players we recruit. If we end up with like 107, we likely will encourage some to transfer away or graduate. And if we end up with like 103, we might try to selectively use the portal or use walkons.
But walk-ons as a general practice are a thing of the past in the FBS now.

As I said. 105 players. They can be scholarship players (and I suspect all will be). But technically, you could still have non-scholarship walkons make up part of that 105.
