If we want to win 10+ games next year

we have got to have Chad Kelly starting at QB. He is a double treat. Look at the 2 QB's in the National Championship. Look at teams the teams that lead the country in scoring and total yards, (Ohio State, FSU, Baylor, Oregon, Auburn, Clemson, Texas A&M). They all have double treat QB's. I'm not knocking Cole Stoudt but he is a Pro-Style QB. The only way you can win a Championship with a Pro-Style QB is with a great Defense like Alabama. If you have a average to above average defense like we have you need a double treat QB. Would you rather have 7-8-9 win seasons like Charlie Whitehurst and Cullen Harper had. Or would you rather have 3 straight 10 win seasons like Tajh Boyd had?

I would use both QBs!!! I would use more play action with Chad Kelly and run zone reads with him. I think Stoudt has the arm like Whitehurst had.

How does the defense affect QB style?

I would say the key to success with a "pro-style QB" is to have a battery of powerful RBs. We are building that position, but I'm sure if next year is the right year to pull the trigger on a QB that runs best with open field and not against a rush. If Kelly adds 10 or so pounds, he could be an even more powerful dual threat, and that will complement a stable of mostly younger and inexperienced runners next season.

there is so long between now and then. so much can happen. they could both play by choice or due to performance or injury. neither could play fopr some unforseen reason. just no way to tell who could or should.w

After re-reading your post, I don't agree entirely.

Kelly needs playing time, but not the starting job unless he earns it. Not sure his arm strength and passing mechanics are where they need to be. I expect Cole Stoudt to be an excellent quarterback. I would like to see us play both early and often to give teams something else to prepare for and to let the quarterbacks know the weight of the world is not on their shoulders should they struggle.
But, until we start recruiting on the level of FSU and Alabama(which we may never reach) we need a quarterback that can run and pass to be the best.

Apparently this is all you need to know:

1. Kelly is a good runner, thus he's better suited to Morris's offense.
2. He has a lot of Swag.
Nothing else matters.
