up on the portal transfers once again to buy another ACC championship game. Evidently it is going to become a way of life for these buzzards along with a few others. These teams are never having to rebuild as they have seniors ever year now. How can they hold their HS recruits while bringing in portal guys to play in front of them.

There is actually a thought with that. People are already chatting about what happens in 2025/2026,when we have over 3000 players in tbe transfer portal. Some sports analysts are already thinking about how this could slow dramatically. The only wild card is the tampering transfers. When those players enter, tbey already have a place to land. By standing by his commitments, Swinney could emerge as the leader, in a couple if years.

Are you really this stupid? Clemson is the only team in the ACC not utilizing the portal. Some of you Dabo jock sniffers need to wake up and see his stubbornness is setting us back. We need to use the #### portal!!

We took the ACC Champs to OT this last year and played like crap so not sure why you are worried. The only thing we need to worry about is our team playing up to its potential

We will know in three years if this is going to work for them or not. It will take that long for the HS recruits to make a difference or for the portal players to make a difference. I predict one or the other is going to set the standard for each school. It may turn out to be a hybrid system. Coaches should pay close attention to these two programs and see how they perform over the next three years. At least it worked this year for FSU.

None of the transfers will be around in 3 years and they’re annually trying to find the magic sauce through the portal.
Jordan Travis made FSU go. Without him they’ll need another great QB. Not the least bit intimidating for FSu and Louisville to be loading on bandaids.

Yes, they will have to reload every year, but they also have to recruit HS kids every year. In three years you will be able to tell if the portal has meshed with the HS recruits and if the team is consistently better.

The issue is that the high school players will often take 3 years to develop. The transfers won't. They're plug-and-play immediately. I still like where Clemson is though because I think the current talent on the team (though it certainly does have some questions) plus the very good '24 high school class will be enough to make the Tigers formidable even without any portal additions. I'm not too worried about Louisville or FSU. Louisville needs to prove something on the field besides coaching hype. They got exposed hard at the end of the season. FSU may retool, but I don't think DJ scares anybody, and as good as they were last year, they were still plenty beatable, as we saw in Death Valley this season. So even if Florida State has no drop-off, they could be good, but they still shouldn't be world-beaters either way. Clemson should be able to compete with them just fine.

That roster, especially QB, has been depleted.
Not at all concerned about Louisville or FSU.
The portal is NOT making teams elite. We can be elite again as soon as the QB grows up.

Louisville was a fraud evidenced in the ACC championship and bowl game to USC’s 2nd string QB.
Sad and embarrassing they were playing in the ACC championship.

Over time, the portal will be just another happening in college sports. I don’t think it will elevate those who choose to use it into another stratosphere! It likely will be a short time fix for some but the really good coaches AND the really good academic schools will not suffer as much as some think! We have a guy named Dabo calling the shots. He is THE MAN in college football. BB will likely use the portal, as he has already, to elevate the basketball program.

I cannot find the verbage that states that you can pay a player up front to commit to a school. Please correct me if I am wrong. I have been researching the past few days. I posted an article on this a few days ago. TIA

It's not like Dabo isn't willing to use the portal. He's pretty selective, true.

The portal is not a menu from a Chinese restaurant where you can pick one from Column A and one from Column B. You don't just say, hey I need a WR and an OL...(scanning the list)...I'll take that WR and...that OL, please.
Step 1. Identify your needs.
Step 2. Weed out the 50%+ of kids in the portal that have no chance to help and have thrown their scholarships away because they will NEVER land another position.
Step 3. For each need, identify and rank your best options as you see them.
Step 4. Initiate contact with the players to begin recruiting them, finding out if they have any interest at all, find out how much cash they're demanding, find out if you think they fit the program...
Realize that other teams are doing the exact same things.
Recognize that it might come down to a bidding war for a mercenary. (This is the part that Dabo seems to reject the most.)
You may or may not be able to get any of the players you hoped to get.

We are not going to tamper and pay good players market value to come to Clemson. With this coach it’s never, ever going to happen. If it bothers you don’t stress it and move along to another team or you will continuously be disappointed.

Do you think Dabo should match Ohio State and pay $500,000 for an offensive lineman center to come in and take the place of your senior starter not knowing if it even is going to be an upgrade? I can understand BB using portal as 1 great player can make a huge difference and Brad is not recruiting nearly as well as Dabo. In fact while I’m at it Brad can not get his teams to play loose in big games. We should have beaten the heels at home. Brad like T Bowden of football has a ceiling and he will never get a team to the top. Brad is a great fellow and represents Clemson with class and dignity and can coach with the best of them. I had a conversation with Dickie V at the cotton bowl few years back and he said Brads biggest problem is he can’t recruit. I add to that he can’t get his players in the right emotional state to play a big game. Feel free to respond.

Yes, those two schools are ground zero for the bag man and cheating. We either support Dabo for doing things the right way or run him off for someone that will tamper and cheat. It is not right but, that is where this entire mess is right now.
Dabo has not been perfect. He has dug in and made mistakes the past five years. I have to believe that the good guy wins in the end. Hopefully this mess will be fixed in the next few years.

FSU not exactly, crushing it in the portal.
Jalen brown and Marvin Jones looking good.
Beyond that they’ve got a lot of mediocre guys and guys that were highly ranked coming out of high school but didn’t really perform when they first got the college.
I’d rather have our roster.

I'm not that worried about it. I understand when Norvell got there that he needed to use the portal to upgrade his roster until he had time to fill it with HS recruits, but it seems like he's now fallen into the trap of having to overhaul the roster year over year. His recruiting classes are fairly high, although he has had a high amount of attrition, so is it a development issue causing him to have to go to the portal so much? If so, that would seem to indicate deeper issues with the program.
