How could a loving mom want less for her son. That doesn't make good sense bc if I had a son that was a 5 star player in any sport, and the team that I had been a life time fan of wasn't that good in his sport, I wouldn't want my son to go there. I would want him to go where he could get/have the greatest opportunity with what he was really good at. If that kid was my kid and I was a die hard coot fan, I would do everything within my power to convince him not to go there for FB. Being a fan is way different than choosing where your best opportunities for life is at!!!

If your only concern is getting to the NFL, then playing for the "best" team isn't necessarily the right decision for many players.
Players get drafted off of bad teams all the time and in order to be drafted you have to play so going to a place where you know you will play makes sense.

The bigger issue is that six in-a-row will likely eclipse the ten in-a-row mark before uof6c is even remotely competitive in the rivalry again.
