The way the bowl season is going I'd give Wake Forest an honorable mention.

FSU will be our best win...UNC in ACCCG, Wake/NCSU were.....

good wins at the time...NCSU went through 4 QBs after that though. 11-3 and an ACC title is an improvement over last year. Bigger question is will we improve upon that this coming year.

Just don't understand Streeters obsession with dropping back and chucking the ball. We were running well but would seemingly just keep dropping back and getting Cade killed. Our offense is built on zone read, qb run and playaction. This line is not built to protect a dropkick passer (see DJ).

Does it really matter how good your offense was at times ,or your defense ? What you saw tonight, IMO, was the worst coaching job by Dabo Swinney since he became Head Coach. Now fix that problem and you might have something next year.

Buddy Jack could get us to Omaha and on the verge of the finals but always choked. Dabo is a winner and has two nattys. Need real coordinators bye streeter and Goodwin it’s way past time bring back Scott or Chad morris please and get a real defensive coordinator perhaps try Ben boulware I’m sure he’d be better than Wes at least he was a champion

Why would "the defense be gassed" after we cut it to 21-14?
Dec 31, 2022, 12:19 AM
|
|
Sure, we gave up big plays. But it's not because of being gassed. Dudes were hardly on the field. It was more a case of being outschemed and beat at LOS and guys running free because of whatever we were doing in the secondary. But gassed? They played like 20 minutes. UT's defense was out there for 100+ plays!

Yes yes. The defense was no where close to gassed. They just did not have the coaching or preparation required to shut TN down. #### we ran 101 plays and TN was still getting after Cade. The offensive line was terrible in pass pro today. They were good all year but today they were terrible. Offensive game plan was poor as typical. Too many bad play calls at critical times. Each drive has different plays that are working and the plays did not reflect that.
We ran trick plays when it’s not necessary. Why ask Davis Allen to throw a pass when we March down field running the ball or allowing Cade to pass. Why fake a FG on the first series.
So many issues. I read way too many articles on this site about “having fun”. We need to get back to business.
This house is on fire but the fire alarms are on battery only without a backup. The owners are home and asleep and the alarm is sounding but not being heard. The culture has changed from best is the standard to 10 wins is enough.
Dag Gum. We are better than this and are right for expecting more than what we watched today.
Dabo must adjust. He is loosing the base. I’ve never felt he was prideful but it seems he feels he is too big to fail.
We got beat by a second string transfer QB
I hate Cade had to endure that game. He gave it everything he had. I fell like the coaches and team let him down.
Guess it’s onto Tiger Baseball now.

This sums it up well! Imagine if Cade played second half of ND or last quarter of SC...
Based on ACC bowl wins... just settling for ACC champ isn't going to cut it Dabo... get new staff

If we hit our field goals and don't go for the fake and also get 3 at the end of the half, that's 15 points. Plus then the 4th downs we forced at the end when down. Moral of the story, if we kick right we could have easily won tonight. But that didn't happen.

Did we really just read the first sentence of this article correctly? Clemson’s offense was good? Are you serious or just blind? The only words that can be used to describe this offense are anemic and impotent and sometimes both in the same sentence!! Get a grip man and find a O line coach who can turn the marshmallows into bulldozers and an OC that can maximize Cades potential!!! Don’t bash that young man. He’s got talent and ENERGY to burn. We cannot waste it. Flush this. Take a shower and get ready for changes in the off season and a much better product on the field in 2023. Go Tigers!!!

Moral of the story was we did miss the field goals. Moral of the story is I don't believe in "moral victories". We got hosed by the same team that Carolina hosed at home. That is what happened.

Does not matter how good your offense was at times, or for that matter your defense .What matters, IMO, is a coaching staff that for 2 out of the last 3 games was not good enough to get the job done. Beating UNC was one thing but losing to both South Carolina and Tennessee should not be acceptable to the Head Coach with two National Championships but nothing to show for it the last 2 seasons. As I said beating UNC really doesn't account for much with the way the ACC stacks up to the SEC.

No surprise. A team without a potent offense in the ACC won't have one in a big time bowl game against a team that came much closer than Clemson to getting into the BCS. This is more of the same---the Coach may call it a growing experience, but Clemson has been suffering from stunted offensive growth for two years. I think it's called marking time, or perhaps decline time. Klubnik will profit from the Orange Bowl experience, but Clemson continues its pullback into the ACC pack. It is hard to see any reason for optimism about the 2023 season.

Well…offense was best it’s been all year between the 20s. Offensive line was terrible in pass protect. Terrible. Playcalling was questionable when it came to finishing drives (and helping with pass pro). Game management by coaches had its share of hiccups. Very costly hiccups. Defense gave us a chance until they tested our secondary deep. Normal this season. Receivers must be better in scramble drill and Klubnik can’t retreat backwards 25 yards. Receivers must get better as a unit. Shipley and Mafah are studs and we didn’t use them correctly consistently. Potter set the tone for the night by not doing his job. Can’t sugar coat it. The game was closer than the score showed but too much was done poorly for the Tigers to overcome. Congrats to Tennessee. Your receiving unit is far better than ours and your coaches were too. Here’s to better days and better decisions by Dabo in the off-season. Go Tigers.
A few additional thoughts to express my frustrating observations. Klubnik has a bright future. Antonio Williams has shown promise. The rest of the receivers are not currently Clemson standard (or our receivers coach and passing game coordinator need to be replaced). Shipley and Mafah are the real deal and I believe in Spiller. Offensive line is 50 percent of what we need them to be. Secondary needs to grow up fast in the off-season because part of our defensive line will probably be in the NFL and we can not win a championship with our current pass coverage while playing 100 yards off receivers. I also believe in Dabo, but he is standing at crossroads and needs to make hard decisions that involve friends and good men.

Cade and Shipley should have been a two man rushing tandem and used the pass to catch Tenn defense off guard tonight for the victory. Remember when DW4 and Gallman did that all the way to the ‘16 Natty game? Clemson’s OC needs to figure out how to win game immediately.

Offense couldn't make anything happen when it mattered & by time they did, the defense gave way.
OL was horrible, Cade played like a freshman, & Potter had a uncharacteristically rough night. Add in some bad decisions & failure to execute when it mattered, & we got what we got. Tennessee obviously wanted it more & deserve credit for that, but Clemson did themselves no favors & let 1 get away.

Should you ever lower your expectations? I don’t think so.
Should you adapt to change? You have to or you will never meet your expectations.
Once again we lose to a portal QB with portal WRs.
I don’t think the sky is falling, but the window to greatness is closing quickly.
