Breaking: J.C. Harper dismissed at Stephen F. Austin (TX)

A source tells CoachingSearch.com that Stephen F. Austin head coach J.C. Harper will not return after seven seasons as head coach at the school.

The Lumberjacks went 3-9 this season.

Harper spent 2005-06 as defensive coordinator and was promoted to head coach in 2007. SFA went 0-11 in Harper’s first season at the FCS school, but improved to 4-8 in 2008. The team reached national ranking and won the Southland Conference in 2009 and 2010, losing in the first round of the FCS playoffs both times. It was the most successful two-year stretch in program history. Harper was Southland Conference coach of the year in both seasons.

SFA went 6-5 in 2011 and 5-6 in 2012 before this year’s 3-9 campaign.

Figured it had something to do with the Chad. Yes, I know who Tom Harper was, but JC didn't ring a bell. I'll go watch the 1988 Citrus Bowl as penance, ok?
