Is Clowney really considering sitting out this year?

Feb 11, 2013, 5:17 PM

That would be great for us. Or is this something espn has made up?

I thought he was going to win the Heisman this year.

Feb 11, 2013, 5:34 PM

I don't think SC would want to bother hiding his academics if he's not playing football.

or it could be a clever excuse for him not being eligible to play.

don't think so. Don't they have to make academic progress?

Feb 11, 2013, 5:41 PM [ in reply to Re: I thought he was going to win the Heisman this year. ]

another year there just means more hours to make a minimum GPA. That's a lot taller house of cards. Why bother if he's not even playing. Much easier to fudge things along until he goes nfl or is tragically injured in 3 yrs.

Or maybe it's so bad, he'll sit out a year, and then go nfl, like that running back at Ohio St, Maurice Clarett

academic progress @ SoCar?? like he can print his mane?? that will get him a bunch of A`s @ Socar!!

Clarett ran a 4.8 forty or something. Clowney is a freak.

Feb 12, 2013, 7:01 AM [ in reply to don't think so. Don't they have to make academic progress? ]

I don't think very highly of anything else about him, but I don't think his character is as flawed as Clarett's.

If he sits this year, why would he come back at all?

Feb 11, 2013, 5:45 PM

He's a first round draft pick now and would be gone if eligible.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Right, if he sits, he won't be back. That's the one certain.***

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-beeksteak-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That would be crushing for USC, why would he sit?

Feb 11, 2013, 5:50 PM

I haven't followed this at all. Is it injury or academics?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Could be both reasons.***

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-beeksteak-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Injury could hurt his NFL stock...

Feb 11, 2013, 6:12 PM

and might mean he would come back for his Senior year. Academics, in his case, have never mattered to his NFL potential.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I mean he will stay out to keep from getting injured.***

oh, then everything I said means nothing.

Feb 11, 2013, 6:28 PM

This is true most of the time

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've heard rumors and it might not be a bad move............

Feb 11, 2013, 5:51 PM

He signs with a agent and gets a advance. Of course I'm sure USuC is paying him well.

He can take the money and train without as much of a risk of injury and still be the top or a top 5 pick.

Don't think it will happen. If so though I would LMAO!

It would do what the "one and done" players in college have done to that game.

I would still laugh though.

Honey Badger will basically be doing it this year.

He played 2010 and 2011 seasons. Skipped 2012 for voluntary and involuntary reasons.
