Since at least 2010, ESPN inserted fake names in Emmy entries, then took the awards won by some of those imaginary individuals, had them re-engraved and gave them to on-air personalities.
Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Chris Fowler, Desmond Howard and Samantha Ponder, among others, were given the ill-gotten Emmys.

Why did the Emmy folks award imaginary people? Did they not watch any footage?
EDIT: Nevermind, I see now what they did. They snuck on-air people in as producers.

Yep, on-air talent was not eligible when Gameday would win an award.

On-Air talent has their own categories, so not supposed to 'double-dip'.
So Sportscenter or Gameday wins, and Emmy org asks for list of names. ESPN includes 'Kirk Henry' (Herbstreit), 'Lee Clark' (Corso), Dirk Howard (Desmond), etc.
Those are the trophies they re-engraved and presented as ego-strokes to the on-air talent.
Apparently Linda Cohn as of last November posted a pic of her four Emmys. But 3 are apparently fake. She had no idea.
