Games. You could argue that statistically we have been darn near dominant.
But alas, our offense repeatedly put them in poor situations with all the momentum against them.
Never underestimate the power of momentum...

I've rewatched it a few times. Our defense was repeatedly put in awful positions and held them to 13 points well into the 4th quarter.
If our offense had even a semblance of functionality, we run away with that game because defense would have fed off momentum and Duke's game plan would have changed to play into our strength.
That game could have easily been 28-7 Clemson. And statistically, it should have been.

World-class performances? No.
Solid enough to give the offense plenty of chances to get the lead back and put the game away? Absolutely. Duke had 13 points in the 4th quarter before the QB broke off that to capture the momentum.
The defense is good. Yeah, we've been sloppy but if the offense takes care of business it's not really a question that they are doing fine.

Yea….. if you ignore Dukes QB running wild. And him slinging the ball all over the place….. looking like he was a pro.
Other than that they’ve been real solid

The only problem I have with the D last week was the fundamentals. Really poor angles on tackles, and arm tackles. They didn’t look ready.

Fair assessment here. Sky isn't falling and the defense certainly has some things to improve on but if Clemson's O does its job, defense is absolutely making sure the O has chances to go win the game.
