Oldest son has shocked Momma Tiggity and myself.

Yesterday he just flat out said......
"I'm going to bake a cheesecake".
Mrs. Tiggity looks at me, I look at her, we BOTH look over at him. Now Mrs. Tiggity is a PROFESSIONAL with anything involving baking, a mixer, and/or an oven. PERIOD. I defer to her on ALL THINGS baking. She defers to me on all things grilling or smoking.
Mrs. Tiggity calmly told oldest son of....."a cheesecake is difficult". "It's so hard to make I DON'T EVEN BAKE THEM." Perhaps start off with a pound cake and work your way up. Nope. Oldest wasn't having that. He is his momma's child. So he goes off to the store, buys all the ingredients, comes back, and today he baked it. It smells right. Looks right. Waiting until it chills in the fridge and we will eat tomorrow. He even made a raspberry drizzle.
This is the same kid who already builds his own PC, plays the piano, cello, bass, and guitar. He's in the orchestra in school and has the highest honors. He draws better than I ever did in 2nd grade. he has a 3d printer and has printed all kinds of neat things. he's driven for almost a full year now, and HAS NOT WRECKED.
I will report back tomorrow with details, but the #### cheesecake looks pretty good sitting in the fridge. Smells amazing.

The main problem is he's been to Halls/Mortons/RuthsCris more than he should, and knows a really freaking good NY cheesecake. He's also had the amazing cheesecake from the local bakery in Lexington that closed (on par or above ANY steakhouse cheesecake). Also knows a good steak. Give him a few years and he will probably know a good wine when he uncorks it.
FWIW, if you ever want to meet my dad, here he is:
https://youtube.com/shorts/uI11KzEf3Y8?si=p8OBc_EOeOJHZiIu
https://youtube.com/shorts/5_TIEH0jVTs?si=wFjjlEfTj_N2a8ua
https://youtube.com/shorts/TWee39z10Fo?si=A8pQo4805LCF5n_X
Only thing that would get my dad going is they don't present the cork to inspect. Otherwise, this IS HIM. You swirl it to get air flowing to all the wine in the sample. You turn it then hold it back upright and look for "legs" running down the side of the glass, a bad sign. Then a big whiff, and drink. But it's the hand gesture, and the handshake where this guy and my dad are eye to eye.

in middle school.
Spent my entire allowance for 2 weeks on a springform pan and the ingredients. Recipe was for an orange cream cheese cake so I even convinced my teetotaler mom to go in the liquor store to buy triple sec.
We all sat around the table after supper the next night and I sliced and served it - so proud.
Took one bite and weeped “it tastes like ####!”
First time I ever swore in front of my parents. My dad, bless him, said “it’s not that bad” and ate the whole piece.
I bet my mom still has that pan in her cupboard.

Half a gummy gets you high as crap (and munchies). Whole gummy gets you a one-way trip to planet Funk-A-Delic.

He sounds like a cross between LilSlac1 and LilsSlac2. 1 is the cellist, guitar player, singer/songwriter and 2 is the chef. Lil Slac2 grew up in the kitchen watching his momma cook and just kinda took to it. He’s into Asian cooking right now, swaps recipes with the ol’ Vietnamese grandma down at the Asian grocery. We eat good when he starts throwing #### in a pot.

Publix(tm) Pizza Sauce, and a questionable bag of shredded mozzarella cheese. They even almost cleaned up after themselves, but I had to help with that.
Not trying to brag or anything, though, but they are well on their way to making boxed mac and cheese and instant ramen and living on their own.
