Will Robert Gunn be under full scholarship in 2024 with Nolan Hauser arriving to take over kicking responsibilities?

This is true on the pulling for performance but can be pulled for a multitude of other reasons related to academics, quitting the team or University policy violations.

I agree with you and don't believe Clemson would stoop this low, but you can find any reason to violate a kid based on a violation of university policy. Probably every student violates a policy at some point. The student policies, which there are hundreds of them can be tedious.

He signed a 4 year National Letter of Intent which guarantees his scholarship for 4 years
It cannot be revoked for athletic performance.
It can be pulled for academic reasons or for detrimental conduct. But that needs to be enforces equally without prejudice.

They don't all have guaranteed 4 year scholarships. P5 schools signed off that IF a guaranteed 4 year scholarship is offered it cannot be revoked for on-field performance, but can be for other reasons. This only applies to players that received a 4yr scholarship when they signed their NLI, but very few schools offer such scholarships even though in 2012 the NCAA allowed it. The reason being, schools want the ability to drop a player who underperforms. I don't know of any Clemson player on a 4 year guaranteed ride, but I also don't know if/where such information would be published. A basic Google search in my limited time at work didn't show it.

Football scholarships are not a 1-year thing at any Power 5 school

Coaches at Power 5 schools can tell you that you'll never see the field and you should transfer, but they can't just pull your scholarship because you aren't good enough at football.

Man. That’s a real dinger to deroberts claim to be some sort of super insider. All P5 conferences have done guaranteed scholarships in all sports since 2015.

Well, well, you learn something new every day. I had no idea the rules changed. If kids get guaranteed 4 year schollies then there should be consequences for them jumping ship to go to the portal.

Athletic scholarships are absolutely NOT guaranteed for 4 years...

They are renewed by the schools on an annual basis.
There are some coaches, like Dabo, who will often honor scholarships for four years, but they most certainly aren't guaranteed.

I wonder what happened to that kid? I have watched him kick in practice and he is a remarkable talent. Sure would like to know what ruined him for game days.

But I was mainly talking about handling players in general. Handling their psyche, their lack of confidence, etc. None of these poasters have a clue on how to do that.

It's up to Gunn. He fell apart this year. And Swinney has brought in the best freshman K in the country to take his place. IMHO last year Liam Boyd looked better than Gunn.

Where do you get that he's "mentally and psychologically" wrecked?
1

I don't think he's even attempted a field goal since before the FSU game, so he hasn't had any opportunity - or not much of one, anyway - to "redeem" himself from the first couple of games.
Being a kicker is probably 40% psychological and the rest form and technique, which gets down to all sorts of minutia that the average player doesn't have to worry about. A kicker has to have a strong psyche to excel. Maybe he doesn't have that. Maybe he does. May be that's it's just too soon to tell.

I wouldn’t worry about the 4 year scholly. After Gunn gets beat out for the starter’s job in the spring, he’ll hit the portal.

Soc, do you have a mind reading booth at County Fairs? Unless you are close relative of Robert Gunn you have no idea what he thinks. By the way, none of us have idea how Nolan Hauser will do until he does it.

I do have a mind reading booth at county fairs Valley Boy ... job well done. But in this case, I do not care what Gunn thinks. I'm pulling for him as the Clemson kicker and looking for him not to be the most ineffective kicker in the conference. Just make the play.

I think anybody that has step foot on a football field with the cross bars have attempted a field goal and know it’s not easy. I think I’d be pretty automatic on extra points myself. But that is just me thinking that on a practice field. Line me up for a 30 yarder for $5000 in Death Valley at halftime and I know I’ve got the leg for it but odds are I’m gonna shank it.

playing ball here. Do you have a lick of insight or inside info or is it just his missed kicks early season? He's been showing up every single day for practice and sticking KO's in the end zone game after game regularly since getting benched. Wrecked in his brain and psyche? C'mon, guy. We can do better.
