Classic example of how things get out of hand and blown way out of proportion. Tez Walker was the crisis du jour and it had to be remedied at once! The Heels needed him at WR. I wouldn't say used their clout, but people sure got used. It was a means to an end. UNC got everyone so worked up the NCAA was receiving threats.
And at the end of the day, for what? They still sucked and now he's bolting. And the whole "Free Tez" movement faded into distant memory.

mercenaries? Welcome to the new world of ATM College Football.
Seriously, some changes have GOT to be made. Could you imagine the chaos in MLB, the NBA, or the NFL if they had to resign their ENTIRE ROSTER EVERY YEAR? That is pretty much where this unrestricted transfer, NIL combination has led college football. It is just not financially sustainable, much less how debilitatiing it is on fandom.

The NCAA is as spineless as a jellyfish.
Going back to the old transfer rule would remedy A LOT of the BS.
Everyone gets 5 years to play 4. If you transfer, fine, but EVERYONE sits out one year before being eligible to play.
This guy played for three different teams over a four year period.

I don't disagree. The players who want to transfer should realize some degree of consequences and repercussions for their actions. It might help put real commitment back in this sport that seems to be on a downhill spiral.

yep, control the portal and impose a graduation scale tied to allowed amount of players on a team. Pay the players whatever you want.... just give me the above two things.

His QB isn't playing either. Why should he?

They're playing an 8-win WVU team in the Mayonnaise Bowl and he's going to be drafted, so it really wouldn't make a lot of sense for him to play and risk an injury that could cost him a shot at the NFL. UNC probably doesn't beat Duke or Miami this year without him, so I don't think he really owes them anything at this point. He only played in 8 games this season, but he still had more receiving yards and touchdowns than any of our receivers.

I thought it was odd that once they got him back their season tanked. Mack knew he was 1 and done. That's why he was crying so much to get him eligible.

He's going pro as expected, not transferring again. Are people still surprised when kids going pro skip bowl games????

I'm sure the NCAA is having a good laugh at UNC's expense right now...

Because Walker is skipping a meaningless bowl game as expected?

He was still a big contributor for them this season even though he was only eligible to play in 2/3 of their games. I'm pretty sure UNC is still laughing at how quickly the NCAA caved once they were threatened with a lawsuit.
