I think my 2nd semester room is blocked in this photo by buildings on the left. - it was on the second floor of D near where a drive went under D to a small parking area. It was so cold in January 1966 that ice formed on the outside metal wall in my room. Guys poured water out of a window onto the ledge above the drive-through and it froze on the way to the ground and blocked cars from getting in or out of the small lot.

occasions that I went home for a weekend, I always arrived back about dusk. The neon Clemson House sign lit up would be a beacon as soon as you got close to campus. As far as missing Johnstone, I lived in the old sections all four years. B9 my freshman year, and old F4 the last three. I miss the good times, but I don't miss the physical tin cans at all.
Butt, I WILL say this: ONCE during my time at Clemson, I went down to Cootlumbia and spent a Friday night with a Coot brother of my girlfriend at the time, in the old Horseshoe dorms. That place made Johnstone look like the Hilton. Literally a raised wooden rectangular box for a bed, with old duck down filled mattresses and pillows. My pillow had a tiny hole in it, and every time you tried to fluff it, or lay your head on it quickly, feathers shot out of it.
The only good thing to come out of that was, the Coots were playing NC State, which was why I was down there in the first place. The Wuffies barbequed them some capon that day, which almost made the weekend bearable. After spending that night in the dilapidated Horseshoe dorm, my mattress and pillow in Johnstone felt really good.

installed, a new, larger replica Tiger went on top of it. At the time, it was said there were plans to preserve and relocate the original Tiger. Does anybody who is around Clemson now, know where it is, or will be? TIA.

of Clemson QBs of the Danny Ford era. He had a really good sense of timing for when to pitch, not pitch, run or throw out of the Clemson "Whirleybird Option", as Jim Phillips called it back then. ROD-NEE Williams generally gets more credit, but I think Eppley was the better QB. Just OMHO.

was one that I just could not make myself like. That nasally voice, coupled with the fact that he called his band The Twitty Birds, was just TOO cornpone for me. Now, King George (Strait), that was another thing altogether. Smooth as fine Silk.
