228 - Greg Huegel is 2nd in Clemson History with 228 Extra Point Attempts

Kickers do not always get recognized, but it seems worth noting that Huegel (2015-2018) left Clemson with the record for the most extra point attempts at 228. The high number of PATs is indicative of Clemson’s high scoring offenses during his four years. Huegel made 218 of his 228 attempts for a 95.6% success rate.
Huegel held the record for most PATs for four years, when his successor, B.T. Potter (2018-2022) assumed first place with 234 extra point attempts over five seasons. Potter made an astounding 234 of his 235 attempts for a 99.6% success rate – easily the highest percentage for Clemson kickers who attempted at least 100 PATs.
Of note: Huegel is also 4th in Clemson history in field goals attempted after having made 54 of his 71 field goals (76.1%). Overall, he scored 380 total points – 3rd among Clemon kickers.

228 years ago, it was 1796. One interesting birthday from 1796 is that of William McGillivray. MacGillivray was born in Old Aberdeen, Scotland, and brought up on Harris. He returned to Aberdeen where he studied Medicine at King's College, graduating MA in 1815.
He held many titles associated with medicine, but that is not the claim to fame which brought him to this post. MacGillivray was a friend of American bird expert John James Audubon, and actually wrote a large part of Audubon's Ornithological Biographies from 1830 to 1839. Audubon named MacGillivray's warbler for him. No doubt "Audubon" is much easier to pronounce and spell than is MacGillivray.
So now, Tug, and any of you other Ornith watchers, as Paul Harvey used to say, you know....the REST of the story.
