Our first spotlight goes to #29 Michael Mankaka. He I a redshirt junior CB for the 2025 Clemson Tigers.
He “Joined Clemson as a walk-on in the summer of 2022 … enters 2025 credited with one tackle in 16 defensive snaps over nine career games … transitioned from receiver to cornerback in the 2024 offseason.”.
He “Finished prep career at Laurens District High School after moving from Mayo High School in Rochester, Minn.”.
In 2022 he “Did not appear in game action while redshirting … ACC Honor Roll selection.”
In 2023 he “Appeared on special teams in two games … made collegiate debut vs. Charleston Southern … contributed on special teams vs. Florida Atlantic.”.
In 2024 he was “Credited with one tackle in 16 defensive snaps over seven games … made one tackle in season debut vs. Appalachian State.”.
Michael was “Born Oct. 21, 2003 … management major … completed a microinternship with LIVE! Entertainment in spring 2025.”.

He “Walked on at Clemson in 2024” and “Played two offensive snaps over two games while redshirting … made collegiate debut vs. Appalachian State … saw action vs. The Citadel.”.
In high school he “Recorded 43 receptions, 683 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior … earned all-state honors for Class 4A as an athlete … also collected 2-AAAA All-Region honors … finished his senior season with 1,190 all-purpose yards … All-Greer Area honoree by the Greer Citizen… also contributed six tackles, three tackles for loss and two interceptions in one game on defense … helped Greer earn the Region 2-AAAA title and the No. 1 seed for the state playoffs … selected to play in the Touchstone Energy Cooperative Bowl (North/South All-Star Game) … coached at Greer by Will Young, a former Clemson offensive lineman from 1992-95 who is also the uncle of fellow Class of 2024 addition Watson Young.”.

I was at the game in Chapel Hill DownSouthTiger®. My wife and I had gone with a good friend of mine who is a Tar Heel fan and alum. That was not fun at all!
The good news is that I was watching the "Buckner Jams" game with that same Tar Heel buddy. That night was a LOT of fun (for me)!!

Took my son to Charlotte to see the Olympic team play in a practice game. Tried to get tickets to an actual game in Atlanta but could only get tickets to game with 2 other countries - saw the American basketball team play the same day. Was the 1st day the Olympic reopened after the bombing .
