High School Concussion Protocol...Apopka

I challenge everyone to go to ESPN3 and pull up the replay of the Byrnes/Apopka game yesterday.
Go to the 1:21:15 mark and tell me that QB didn't suffer a concussion in the 1st half. Weebles wobble less.

I for one have no pity for the HC/DAD...he put his own kid in jeopardy....what would he do to other kids?

those schools who get paid tons of money to compete on tv and so on.are win at all cost types of schools.i find it sickening.high school football used to be pure

I was distracted when that happened and didnt think much about it but someone at Apopka needs to relook at what they did. Sometimes hits cause more than you think. The second hit was hard but I think you're right about the kid already being dinged.

I rember the old days on sidelines at CU and Furman and guys talked their way back into games that would get back in. You'd hope even at the hs level we'd know better now and err to the cautious side.

Used to be that coaches didn't even know the word concussion

When I played, if you didn't get knocked cold, they'd simply say you got your bell wrung and tell you to sit out for a play or two.

lots of players have those which is really scary with what we know now. If my grandsons never play a competitive down of the game I'm fine with that and I love college football

with todays legal system the dad can probably now sue the school for negligence. it would not surprise me with some of the frivolous stuff you see. I'll bet if he wasnt coach he could.

According to the NFHS rules, which EVERY HS in America plays by, they are supposed to be cleared with concussion tests, etc. BEFORE they re-enter the game. Also, the officials are to look for signs of a concussion and immediately kill the clock and send off said player. There is not much that can be done if people (coaching staff) lie and cut corners.
