When he coached 8-man football at Greenwood’s Cambridge Academy, he had a great D player that he tried to get Gamecocks coaching to come see him play. Lou and Skip wouldn’t even come - “it’s 8-man football.”
Ticked Tannyhill off and he turned to Clemson - Clemson came, saw and eventually offered the player (after a year at Fork Union). He came to Clemson and did pretty good - and 3 years in the NFL before his untimely death in 2010. You may remember him, Gaines Adams!
Soured Tannyhill on SCar I understand. He coached a state championship at Cambridge and again at Chesterfield High - I don’t think Chesterfield had ever won a football state championship before.
Stiil that Psw Signing is hard to overcome!
