Not very humble! He lost his $6000 suit but he combed his hair and beard over 25 times. He is more worried about looking good that answering the questions. It was a little sickening watching him rub his Hair in place or pull his Go-tee? Not a great interview and lots of prommadonna!

He also seemed to speak a lot even talking about himself at times, it seemed to happen right after someone asked him a question. A sure sign of an egomaniac is someone who talks a lot about themselves. He should have been a little more humble and ignored the questions completely.

Well I was going to take my cure for cancer to the FDA for approval. Then all of the sudden I heard DJ was touching his hair a lot and I knew I just had to analyze his postgame interview first.

I agree remember he was in high school just 2 years ago. He is a kid for heaven sake, give the kid a break. I just wonder how these arm chair qb's would be. His hair and gotee issues are just nervous reactions of a kid who is thrown into the spot light. i would be nervous too,

COME ON MAN!!! Could it just be he was nervous? Talk about piling on a young kid when he is down. This is starting to become ridiculous.

I don't care to watch and study a 19 year old kid during a post game interview. It is just piling on a kid because you can. Looking for any reason to degrade him.

Not piling, just observation. Said he didn't learn anything from sitting on sidelines, said TP did good, but just not humble like i am used to from Clemson kids. Don't watch if you don't want to, but don't b! Tch when an observation is made. I didn't say anything bad. Last week he wore his Cam Newton suit and this week he says he didn't learn anything by being benched.
You tell me if that is humble, sir?

He just got out of the shower from having a helmet on for three hours. If you are going to complain about that then you would probably be complaining if he went 30 for 31 because of the pass he missed.
What I got out of the interview was that they must want him to stick with the play call and the primary receiver in bad situations. They also have not taught him not to make the bad situation worse by looking off the safety. Maybe some of his bad decisions are because he is not being given the option to make one. Even if he makes the wrong decision, he has a better chance of success deciding during the play than it being dictated beforehand.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with that interview on his part. He had nervous energy and kept trying to rub his head. He probably does it all of the time. When I was young I had a couple cowlicks/calics and would do the same all of the time. He is just flattening his hair out of habit and nervous energy. The interview was completely innocuous.

thing I think you’re nuts to make that an issue. It’s clearly just a habit. He’s not rockin’ TL-type locks…He’s not actually worried about the 1/2 inch of hair looking bad on TV.
For goodness sake he’s sipping through a straw during the interview. Does he look like he’s building a brand?

Where did this bleeding heart bullsh#t come from? You can’t say anything negative about a college kid? So 19 and 20 year olds at your job can suck it up for months and no one there will get pissed and what him fired? I guess you all say “ hey he’s just a kid, “ no you don’t! You say he’s worthless and they should fire him. These football players are not above reproach. I would have benched him. Or at least had him share time at QB with TP. He throws passes that if he threw in high school, he wouldn’t have been a 5 star. He needs to clear his head. He is loosing confidence and that’s the worst thing for him. I have never seen a QB struggle like this, and then turn it around. At least TP can run and move the ball. DJ has more int’s then TD’s. Leaving him in only hurts him and the team. Time for a change! GO TIGERS!!!!!

Congratulations on being a 10 year survivor of cancer. Celebrate it.
I haven't earned an income an income from football, but I have been every bit as blessed as DJ if not more so. You probably have been to if you take a good look around. Enjoy the accomplishment of persevering through the bad times. You should be proud of it, not bitter from it.

great pleasure in the "right" to criticize. Does it somehow make you feel better? I'm sure it's a very stressful time for you. Been there-got the T shirt. I hope you do well.
I am curious, how combing your hair makes you not "humble" or says anything about your humility in any shape, form or fashion. In fact, here is the definition of humble - not proud : not thinking of yourself as better than other people. If I use that definition of "humble", it makes clear to me who is humble and who is not.
You don't have to be a Bible thumper to appreciate its many parables and lessons "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?" Matthew 7:3

Its not the combing of the hair thst doesn't make him humble, it's when asked if he learned anything from being bench and watching TP, and without hesitation he said "No he didn't learn anything from being benched!". I would have expected a different answer especially due to the fact that he was benched for a reason. But the blatant "No!" is what I felt was a little less humble than I expected from him.
That said, most the people that are going off about my hair combing comment never watched the video and completely missed my comments about his response to the question. Yet everyone wants to bash me without seeing his response.

I don't think I've ever posted anything negative about DJ but now I feel like an a$$ for even thinking things during the games about situations where bad decisions are made. It's so easy to criticize someone when they are a face doing a job. When the face becomes a person, someone you know something about, and in this case, become familiar with their true nature-good or bad, your entire attitude can change in an instant. It's usually like that in regular everyday life in general. I think this is a good lesson to demonstrate that these kids are not football players. They are kids playing football. They're not pros. Most all of them are doing their best as you don't get to the big stage being a slouch. For me at least, this is a wake up call to remember that these are just kids at heart and have feelings and stories just like everyone else. I think our job as fans for college athletics should be to build up our players, not chop them down because losing might make us feel bad about ourselves. If I remember this lesson, I'll feel bad because of my own behavior and perspective-not because we lose a game. That's not to say it doesn't feel crappy to lose. It does. It feels worse for the players and coaches, the ones who put in the work to try to be successful and then sometimes fall short. A big reason we have a top tier program is because it's about these kids first and then football. Sure, you want the most talented players you can get because it is a competition. However, how good would it feel to be a winner on the scoreboard but have a program that just uses people for what it can get out of them? I feel better knowing that our program does not do that and, in fact, goes the extra mile not to treat kids as commodities. We talk about the Clemson "family"-well here's a story about one of your family members. I feel proud of this family member and like one of my own kids, I want him/her to succeed and I'm not going to trash my kid on a message board when they somehow don't live up to expectations.

I watched 3 minutes of this interview and discovered what is wrong with DJ He was brushing his hair and pulling his go-tee with his left hand, and he throws with his right .He had more success connecting his face with his left hand then he does connecting with his receivers with his right. As a licensed arm chair quarterback I am hear to tell the coaching staff they need to have him throw like me; A "LEFTIE".

According to a couple commentators with QB experience says he will not thrive in our system. We are a Passingfirst/diel threat QB, but if you are 100 pocket passer, then our OL is not great. DJU only runs with power and size. He cant throw short pass well because too hot, cant throw outside because he stares down players, cant throw screens because he just runs straight backwards and the RBs stand still instead of flaring so the non-blocking OL lets the tackle happen 8yds negative on a good play.

Commentators: a person who commentates on a sports match or other event. Comment: a verbal or written remark expressing an opinion or reaction
What any talking head talks about is just their opinion. They are not authorities. Most have never coached a team. The ones who actually played are paid for their "opinions" They're all paid for their opinions.
I'm pretty sure DW and TL were not billed as running QB's. They were QB's that could run if they needed to escape. Having a QB run has never been a prerequisite for success in football. In fact, it's a way for them to get hurt. They don't have the running mindset usually and they sue as heck aren't padded up the same way.I know we have guys as pros who run but what usually happens?...they get seriously hurt or knocked out of a game. Did anyone not have their heart in their throat every time DW or TL took off on a run-knowing that every opposing player was licking their chops to go hurt them? Remember the cheap shot that TL took from a Syracuse player which was leading with the head and he was almost , if not, already, out of bounds (which the stellar ACC officials did not call). We remember the Chase Brice story. We should also remember how it came to be the Chase Brice story.

He’s leaning in to hear the interviewer not looking at the camera. Fixing hair and pulling goatee is just a nervous habit. Good grief quit looking for problems.

You may have watched the interview but did you listen? This kid was very humble and respectful. He addressed the interviewers as “sir” even when they asked questions about last week and tried to make him look bad. I thought it was a great interview. His mindset to keep pushing and keep trying to improve is EXACTLY what I would want to hear from him. Go away troll.

I have watched thousands of college kids interviews over the years. DJ, like most of our Tigers, do great! If you don’t like the mannerisms of DJ maybe you should root for the chickens down the road. Those kids can’t complete a sentence.

UNBELIEVABLE!

We have a whole page of comments predicated on the fact that a 19 yo rubs his hair and strokes his goatee during an interview spoken to a computer screen with poor sound consequently showing him to definitely not have humility. This is by far the STUPIDEST premise I have ever heard.

But check his eye blink rate. Definitely over 7 per minute. Dead giveaway to an egomaniacal personality. I mean facts is facts

This is a trash take. He’s a teenager, one that’s struggling under immense pressure and expectations. Piling on and tearing down one of our own accomplishes nothing.

Actually the best thing I've seen in DJ is that he hasn't ndeveloped a bad attitude during his struggles. He's a great CLEMSON kid and his parents obviously have done a great job raising him.

I agree with you on that and I was proud of him for not pouting when he got benched as he had to have known it was coming if he continued to struggle.

He has been doing that rubbing his hair trick ever since he got here. A nervous habit, I would imagine.

Poor kid can’t win with some people. Let’s just keep piling it on and messing with his mind even more. Recruits read this board. #### like this will make them look elsewhere real quick

Criticizing him for his play is completely fair but destroying him for touching his hair during and interview is just stupid.
