Video 1 - Kirby shoves the player. My interpretation, before listening to his explanation.
He was ticked off at someone. I think it was the referee. He's focused on the guy and never sees the player. When the player (who didn't see him) and Kirby make contact Kirby gives him a hard shove. I think it was reactive, not intentional. But, I also think it was uncalled for. I don't care if it was one of his players, staff or coaches. My interpretation is, if it was an official of any kind (including chain gang member) Kirby would have been tossed from the game and be paying other penalties as the league evaluated the tape.
Video 2 - Post game presser. Kirby says he was going toward his DC, not the official, and doesn't remember hitting anyone. (Go to the 9:25 point of the video). After watching the video, I am undecided if he was yelling at ref or his DC. Either way, his actions were definitely excessive.

Coaches should be fined and suspended by the conference for physically exerting force on ANYONE during a game, other coaches, their players, officials, fans, and certainly opposing players.

And I don't really remember him ever having issues being physical with his players or coaches. Yes he gets mad and has outbursts of emotion just like a lot of coaches do on the sidelines.
I think it was just the perfect situation of him being upset at the end of the play in himself in the Mississippi State player running into each other at the same time. Kirby just so happened to be moving pretty swiftly down the sideline at the time. It doesn't excuse what happened because it does look bad but I feel like it was purely accidental not intentional.
I'm not sure anything needs to be done to Kirby but it may serve him well to apologize for what happened. The Mississippi State player didn't seem to care either. If he would have stopped and addressed the shove then it would have become an ordeal that the officials or the SEC would have had to address directly at the time.

What would've happened if the MSU player had shoved him back, just as hard.
(Hypothetical question. We will never know.)
But, just for fun, let's assume it was purely accidental and Kirby didn't realize he had shoved anyone, much less and MSU player. Let's further assume the MSU player only realized he'd been shoved and didn't know who it was, but just instinctively shoved him back, as he continued to run toward his bench.
I imagine more than two or three UGA players attacking the MSU player immediately with far greater force.

But this wasn't quite the same.... It was an odd occurrence and I don't think it was intentional.
Not sure any kind of suspension is warranted or necessary. If there was more to it, something would have happened after the shove.

The most convenient of all lies. No one can prove different. But if he truly doesn’t remember or didn’t know who he ran into and shoved, that shows the guy is so out of control he didn’t even realize he hit someone that hard. Which is worse?? Whether it is intentional or accidental, he’s out of control. And young people generally follow the examples their leaders set for them.

I accidentally bump into people at work all the time when I’m trying to get to someone else.
Nothing more appropriate at my place of employment than an arms fully extended shove as a reaction.
And then afterwards of course I tell HR I don’t remember it.

In all seriousness. I didn't read past you not thinking it was Kirby's intent or not. Definitely didn't watch the videos. LOL. Geez it sux to be an FSU fan these days, now that the mercs left your program high and dry.
