than FSU (without their starting QB) and that is why they are the 4 seed and FSU is 5, then why rank FSU ahead of Georgia? Clearly Georgia would beat FSU without Travis. Why does the eye test matter for the 4/5 seed, but not 5/6?

The problem with all of this is that the committee’s mandate is wrong. It should never have been about identifying the 4 best. It should be the 4 most deserving. That’s how sports work. You earn your way to the post season by playing your regular season schedule. You play through injuries and win however you can. Rarely does the best team actually win it all.

You are spot on.

Either FSU is in at 4 (undefeated, power 5 conference champion rewarded) OR they have to be behind UGA. If you punish FSU for losing their QB and not passing eye test, then you can't justify 5 and ahead of UGA who's been ranked 1 all year.

Coaches Poll had FSU as 3 and AP as 4. Hard to believe a committee could say all of the sports writers and coaches are wrong.

This is the whole problem with these imaginary metrics. They do nothing but cause inconsistency in decision making because they are speculative , not performance based

I doubt if FSU would beat us without Travis. Thats not the point. I don’t know that. It’s just an opinion. Just like the one by the committee which is dead wrong.

Really good point. They use various criteria inconsistently to try to justify the decision they are going to make. In this case, it seems they went with the fact that Georgia has one loss and FSU does not.

No, it shouldn't be about most deserving. It should never have been a selection process. It should have been a direct qualification process.

Well, yes. That would be ideal. I think a direct qualification process inherently results in the most deserving teams being in the postseason.
