no idea who the others may have been. The guy many wanted, Leonhard, was an excellent DC, but a horrible fit for our currently constructed roster, built for 4 down linemen. He's a 3-4 guy.
Allen runs the same defense we want to run. And I agree with Dabo, it speaks volumes as to how we are still viewed that so many want the job

Ever hear the story of how Tommy West got back into coaching after Clemson?
There was a job opening at maybe Ole Miss or Mississippi State or one of those schools. He legitimately had no chance of getting the job but his agent called and asked him if he was ready to coach again and if he was he’d let it leak that West was in the running for the job opening, that way when he a lesser job opened up like Memphis they could say they got a coach that was in the running for a SEC job . Even though he never was.
