the Football team is headed to Columbia today?

Given the facilities at Clemson, which are the best, why would you go down today, incur the costs of the overnight stay (which have to be significant!), and not leverage what you have at Clemson for meetings, film, ...

It is an easy bus ride to Columbia. Especially since this is a night game. Seems like they are just wasting a lot of money for no good reason.

there is the managing the whole curfew thing too. All teams do this. PLus the next day you're more used to stench of Cootlumbia. Its where the make the nasty gas station bathroom smell.
