Just posting for you guys to read... you don't have to

May 16, 2012, 9:28 AM

TD me everytime... new blog concerning yesterday's write-up.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Thanks

May 16, 2012, 9:30 AM

I'll give you a TU.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hmmmmm.....

May 16, 2012, 9:36 AM

If Clemson and the Big XII have reached an agreement on all substantial issues, if Clemson wants the Big 12 and the Big 12 wants Clemson, how are the Tigers following in FSU's footprints.

thought the same thing...

May 16, 2012, 9:37 AM

Could be referring to how quiet Clemson has been publicly compared to FSU... also said Clemsonw as content to let FSU blaze the way out.

Maybe Clemson is content to let FSU....

May 16, 2012, 9:39 AM

pi$$-off the ACC, Duke and UNC.

Frankly, I think we should join in the public flogging.

I'd love that but

May 16, 2012, 9:42 AM

we would never do that. CU never gets drawn into that stuff. Anything said or done is in private

Agreed !!!!***

Yep let fsu pi$$ off the acc and once they leave we...

May 16, 2012, 9:45 AM [ in reply to Maybe Clemson is content to let FSU.... ]

Really don't have a choice but to leave. It also keeps us from the potential lawsuits I'm sure fsu will be hit with by acc institutions. You can bet unc and duke lawyers are chomping at the bit.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yes.. I think it's for Clemson to "save face" if something

falls through with negotiations. Just my thought...

aside by the big12ish for georgia tech?

Thought the same...I understand where their is smoke...

May 16, 2012, 9:41 AM

Their is fire and we may leave for the big 12 but this guy is doing nothing more than guessing to get hits on his blog.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Once it becomes apparent that FSU and Clemson are leaving...

May 16, 2012, 9:51 AM [ in reply to the same way clemson with an agreement in place can be moved ]

I think you'll see several other schools begging to join them including Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech and, frankly, the Big XII would be foolish not to take them too.

I just don't think Notre Dame to the Big XII is very likely.

If al those teams leave the acc no way...

May 16, 2012, 9:55 AM

Notre dame would consider the acc. Then the question is which conference ND would join? SEC big 10?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

VPI

May 16, 2012, 9:57 AM [ in reply to Once it becomes apparent that FSU and Clemson are leaving... ]

I'd really be surprised if VPI was "allowed" by their legislature to leave the ACC without UVA. After the strings were pulled to get them into the ACC over Syracuse, I just don't see that happening.

You could be right.....

May 16, 2012, 10:04 AM [ in reply to VPI ]

in which case the Big XII may take Clemson, FSU, Georgia Tech and possibly Notre Dame. NC State or Maryland could be an option as well

to h3ll with vpi.

you're probably right about ND. i don't know what those crazy catholics are going to do. :)

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I read it from a Clemson grad's perspective.

May 16, 2012, 9:53 AM [ in reply to Hmmmmm..... ]

I can understand Clemson not wanting to soil itself by airing the ACC's dirty laundry before the football world. I happen to agree with that assessment if that is what he meant.

I believe Clemson's management must be looking into this move. It just wouldn't be circumspect to ignore a potential opportunity. Education is a business and Clemson has good business folks to make good business decisions.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i'd also expect clemson, fsu, gt, miami all to at least TRY

May 16, 2012, 10:10 AM

to deal from a position of power, not need or desperation.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He is starting to write to much and get to cute

May 16, 2012, 9:36 AM

so now its looking more like BS.

The chain yanking, Clemson is done deal not they aren't, well they are, then at the end the GT comment about 'B12 might take GT over Clemson to attract ND'.

This is all garbage.

As long as we're "pie in the sky-ing" ...

May 16, 2012, 9:45 AM

...and I apologize if this has been discussed earlier:

Would FSU's leaving be the impetus for a "palace revolt" in the conference? Is it possible that (a) FSU, with this card in thier hip pocket would go to the ACC meeting table and say "If Swoffie stays, we go" ... at which point Clemson would push their chips in with FSU.

Would the Big 12 have an interest in more than two teams? If so they could gut the southern end of the ACC with GTech and Miami, giving the ACC free reign to become the new hybrid Big East and give the Big XII head to head competition with the SEC in the Deep South.

Or is this all just idle speculation to keep folks from working on Wednesday?

badge-donor-20yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-revdodd.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

OU pretty much told Big XII they were gone unless Beebe

the big12ish, i'd like to take those 3 teams along.

i wouldn't care which current teams the conference gave 'our' half of the draw with gt, fsu, daU and wvu annual games.

Rev...this same guy reported yesterday that Miami....

May 16, 2012, 9:59 AM [ in reply to As long as we're "pie in the sky-ing" ... ]

has apparently informed the Big XII that they are not interested in making a move. The blog went on the say that Miami would be placing less emphasis on its football program in preparing to deal with the NCAA sanctions they are likely to receive.

That's exactly what I thought when I read the blog

You are suggesting this may be a power struggle...

rather than exit strategery?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It may be both

May 16, 2012, 10:10 AM

or an exit strategy disguised as a power struggle.

FSU demands a bunch of concessions they know the ACC will not accept as justification for leaving the league.

Why would GT be more attractive to ND than Clemson?

What am I missing?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

hello friend***

May 16, 2012, 10:01 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Several reasons

May 16, 2012, 10:11 AM [ in reply to Why would GT be more attractive to ND than Clemson? ]

While Clemson is a fine academic institution, GT is one of the top engineering schools in the nation.

GT is still seen in a better light nationally. I'm not sure why but several factors include being an elite academic institution, storied past history (granted its been several decades), alumni spread throughout the country & its location in Atlanta.

I'm not sure exactly what happened but when Notre Dame visited Clemson in 1977 something happened that gave Notre Dame a very bad taste in their mouth concerning Clemson. While I was pretty young, I was at that game. I don't recall anything on the field occuring but something did happen during ND's visit. Perhaps someone else can shed some more light on the situation?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Haven't heard about the 'incident'.***

May 16, 2012, 10:20 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was a student at CU then and was at the game...

May 16, 2012, 10:38 AM [ in reply to Several reasons ]

There was no specific "incident" other than we almost upset them until Joe Montana brought them roaring from behind in the 4th quarter (a sign of things to come, lol). Their coach, Dan Devine, had made some a$$hat comments the week before the game about the referees needing to control the crowd noise because he knew it got loud down there. I think it was all coach-speak and he was just trying to get in our heads and pump his team up, but the cheerleaders and student body took it to heart and developed the infamous "silent clap" where we would pretend to clap without actually doing it until their team broke the huddle, and then get really loud. It was probably all our imagination, but it did seem to throw ND off their game (although I think the play of Steve Fuller, Jerry Butler, and all the other players on that great Tiger team had more to do with it). I'm sure that some fans at the game had some choice words for Devine, and he reportedly gave the stadium the finger as he left the field, but this is all the stuff of legends. We did get a measure of revenge two years later when we went up to the Golden Dome and took one from them, maybe they still remember that. That game in '77 in the Valley was a great one to be at and I'll always remember seeing Montana play college ball in person. I do believe ND went on to win the national championship that year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i was there

May 16, 2012, 10:45 AM

and Montana drove them down late in the 4th quarter for a TD and they beat us 21-17...i think we may have been up 17-0 at one point but we fumbled a punt and/or a kickoff if i remember correctly.....i was on the hill watching Montana drive them down and i left sick to my stomach...it was my first game in DV. ND won the national championship that year too. we went up there three years later and beat them in South Bend.

Re: Just posting for you guys to read... you don't have to

It would seem to me they would have told our coach. Yesterday Dabo made a statement that the ACC would win the National Championship in the next 5 years. I don't think he would have brought that up if we were moving whith FSU to the Big 12.

Getting ahead of himself =/= wrong...

He might be wrong eventually (I still dont think we will be anywhere but the ACC in 5 years) but nothing in that really came across as him being wrong.
