I just hope that he is O K with red shirting his first year even if he does compete well in the fall. I just believe he will know our offense completely with a red shirt season.

He'll learn and also build up some size and maybe

additional speed after a full year of training. Most QBs who start as true freshman do so mostly because coaches have few other choices (FSU for example). We have two pretty decent choices, and they are already competing with each other. Worst case is the RS decision isn't made until after the first few games when Stoudt and/or Kelly have had their chances.

You realize cole is only 15 pounds heavier?

Nov 14, 2013, 12:29 PM

He can add 15 lbs between January and August. I wouldn't count him out.

Yea and that was a huge mistake apparently by Jimbo to redshirt him because now he is going pro next year

And he wouldn't have been the QB as a freshman, that he is as a red shirt freshman. If Winston would have had to play as a true freshman. I don't think he would have been the same QB in his soph year as he is as a red shirt freshman. I believe that his mechanics and his thinking in the game would have been screwed up from not adjusting to the speed at the college level before he actually had a chance to get use to it. His soph year would have been spent fixing everything that got screwed up from playing as a true freshman QB running for his life. I also think that FSU had a great schedule for Winston to get his feet wet as a red shirt freshman. Would FSU be undefeated if their first game would have been against UGA or Clemson, I don't think so. FSU had 4 weeks to get Winston ready for his first test in BC, and 6 weeks before us, with the week before us off. So I would say FSU had a perfect schedule to get Winston acclimated to the college game speed before us. Great schedule to get their 5* red shirt freshman ready to play like a 5* QB.

This should put to bed about deshaun's loyalty...

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Watson will compete for the starting job.

Nov 14, 2013, 9:00 PM

Stoudt and Kelly are good, but this kid is dynamic. May the best man win the starting spot.

He will compete, but he's got a long ways to go to beat out

Nov 15, 2013, 1:29 PM

Stoudt. Stoudt knows this offense inside and out and executes it almost flawlessly. He takes what the defense gives at almost a 100% rate. Kelly will even have a hard time beating Stoudt for the job.
