Clemson at Auburn: Who got the snaps?
Four Clemson true freshmen earned the first snaps of their collegiate career Saturday at Auburn. What nine players played every snap? What does head coach Dabo Swinney say about those that didn't play? Full Story » |

Why the hell is O'Daniel getting 13 snaps? He's been our best LB in coverage, including Jalen Williams, and a playmaker

he had a ridiculous late hit that was called. when you go back and look you can plainly see he was trying to not hit the guy and then trying to keep him up but his momentum waqs too much to slow...Zebras called the penalty and Dabo benched him

Because Wiggins is better

Dorian is a good player, but Wiggins was a menace in this game. He disrupted several plays from out of nowhere. Plus he is better in coverage than Dorian. And he is probably just as good, if not better, in the run game.

agree until the last sentence. O'Daniel is definitely a better run defender

No. If you are talking about dw4 having less snaps, its because he wasnt on for the field goal.

there were 2 FG's, so that's not it, unless Watson was in on 1 FG

I think there was a trick play where Watson looked to sideline and ball was direct snapped to tail back.

Huggy Bear not getting a single snap is inexcusable.

I'm happy that Dabo took ownership of the personnel issue. I'm very surprised we kept our entire offensive line in all 81 plays... Not good. Looking forward to the changes and a more up-tempo flow this Saturday.

Have we switched to a 4-2-5? Really seems like it based on the snap count.

Also 2 thoughts - how does Dorian O'Daniel only get 13 snaps when he is a 3rd year player and a starter? Did Dabo bench him after the late hit? I was very exicted for him, I hope he plays more. 2nd thought is the emergence of Jalen Williams. He was a low 3 star (from Cootlumbia) who's only power 5 offer was from Clemson. As a true sophomore he played 30+ snaps in a extremely competitive game. Kudos to him and the coaching staff for developing such an underrated player.

You will probably see a lot of "4-2-5"

Not true 4-2-5's, but with the ridiculous talent we have on the DL, our LBs will have a pretty easy time. That's why I think we will see a 3rd safety, like Wiggins, playing that SAM position to provide coverage help. And let's be honest, Wiggins is not your typical safety. Dude will lay it down and he was all over their run game and disrupted lots of plays in the backfield. I think that is why Dorian saw less snaps, because Wiggins was a menace.

I don't think we run anything like the CM HUNH offense.

I can see how keeping some of these kids in the whole game will pay dividends in the long run, but there was a lot of talent sitting on the bench for too long. It's the first game. Coaches will get better as the season progresses, just like the players.

The good thing is now that we've gotten pass Auburn, we get to start the season again, if you will, against a couple of mediocre teams for 2 weeks at home. Glad it worked out this way so that we can possibly develop more debt before Louisville comes to town. Got a feeling we're gonna need it.
