Luke seems to be the hardest working recruiter we have ever had for OL talent. No way to know how many we land, but it won’t be from his lack of effort. I think he’s Dabo’s best hire since Dabo has been our head coach.

Luke has been exceptional, but it's going to take a number of years and a national title or two before Luke could claim #1 hire over Venables. Or even Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott, for that matter.

I would agree with what you're saying. Time will tell. I also think you'd have to quantify the statement. One could argue that the most impactful for our program was Morris... but I wouldn't say Morris was his best hire. I'd actually argue it was both Scott's.
That said, I appreciate the post. Luke has been crushing it and I could tell a big difference in the oline last year. No doubt it's a great hire. Hopefully Allen will be the same.

I think he has a ways to go to be the best. BV has some big shoes to fill in that aspect. If he can start producing some road graders with national honors and NFL draft picks then that will definitely put him up there. We don’t have much history with producing OL prospects, I know there have been exceptions, but not overall.

Dexter Lawrence, Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant, Clee Missile. Best DL ever and two Natty’s.
So I would guess all Luke has to do to best BV is recruit best OL ever, develop them, and win three Natty’s.

Matt Luke is getting OL recruits on campus that used to not give Clemson the time of day. In the future, I am going to use him as exhibit A as to why coaches falling short on results should be called out.
