A l-o-n-g way! I used to stop at the Western Sizzlin' across from the JAX State campus when I was travelling to Birmingham regularly. Their stadium is about the size of the one at Daniel High School.
Wonder how his life would be different if he had stayed at West Virginia?

His offensive philosophy was very forward-thinking.

He was one of the pioneers in changing the way college offenses played. I consider him to be the brains behind Tommy Bowden's success at Tulane and early in his Clemson career.
Unfortunately, he wasn't the most upstanding individual and I predict that he would've eventually faltered regardless of where he coached. There is no debating that his career plummeted after he went to Michigan.

Lesson to be learned - don't be greedy. He probably could have been successful at West Virgina.

His personality / character would have caught up with him like elsewhere. Was a matter of time even at WVU.
Still think the leash at UM was too short.

instead of Saban. He actually turned them down to stay at West Virginia back then.
That may be one of the biggest what if butterfly effect decisions in the last 25 years of college football

We can never see our future and we can never see what could have been.
We often think if only, thinking that what could have been would have been much better than what was/is. But it may have been even worse. God has a plan and a purpose for our lives. What could have been was not God's plan for us. So, be thankful for what is.

Toxic work place? If there ever was a phrase that represents the softness of this country and specifically the last couple generations, that’s it. What exactly is a toxic workplace? Someone who’s mean to you, you dont care for your boss cause he’s a azzhole ? I wonder if Danny Ford would be toxic in 2023? Heard he was mean and not very polished at timed

I remember that Pitt game. I think it was his QB who said he was hurt and wouldn't go back in the game.

Pat White. He did go back into the game in the second half.

His hand on his throwing arm was injured, but he could still run. Pat McAfee missed 2 or 3 chip shot field goals that day.

He may not see it that way. There’s nothing wrong with coaching at a smaller program.
He should have more money in the bank than he can spend and can coach without all the unrealistic expectations found at bigger programs.
He’s probably having a lot more fun and still makes way too much money. I’m not sure why anyone would have a problem with that.

JaxState puts up with RichRod

People at JaxState don't really like RichRod, but they do appreciate that he has brought a lot of attention to their program. From his viewpoint - he pretty much gets what he wants due to that. Not as dramatic as Deion at JacksonState, but Jacksonville State has had a similar boost in profile due to RichRod. I even heard some discussion of the possibility of Gameday going there eventually if RichRod stayed and kept winning.

He signed a contract extension that raised his salary from $500k to $800k a year. I wish my career would go in a downward spiral to where I’m only making $800k a year. Must be nice.

RichRod propped up Bowden at Tulane, then made the mistake of leaving his alma mammy WVU for Michigan where he was a mercenary no friends. Lesson in there somewhere.

He crashed and burned at Michigan and face-planted at UA

He was so bad at UA it was unreal, even worse than at Michigan.
I watched them lose that game to a sorry Pitt team that knocked them out of playing for a national championship. That was unreal. It was his final game at WVU. It's like something happened prior to the game that made the players quit on him. It was like a Twilight Zone episode.
From Day 1, he was a complete joke of a culture fit at Michigan. It was nasty.
