I can't remember the last time I was this excited to see a tiger's 40 time at the combine. I know I was this hype to see CJ's but I think Wiggins can run under a 4.2 at the combine.

I agree. I'm guessing he'll run fast though, likely a low 4.3. Cracking 4.4 is blazing fast.

Watch that UNC run down
It wasn't a 40 yard dash with the set up and everythin, but prior to hitting the 40 yard line going towards the end zone to catch the running back, he was interrupted and had to restart his acceleration.
From when he hit about the 40, he ran that last 40 yards in about 3.9 seconds give it take a couple milliseconds. There may be something different about in game speed compared to line up soeed

I'm sure his goal is a sub 4.4. Anything beyond that is gravy. If he managed even sub 4.3 that would make him one of the fastest players of all time so no idea where sub 4.2 is coming from.

Sub 4.2 comes from him out running Mukuba having a head start to still hawk UNC's back down. That's Tyreek fast what he did that day.

The fastest laser timed 40 in the NFL combine since they started using lasers is 4.22 by John Ross in 2017. I didn't know that of course. I used Google.

He could really help his draft status with anything around 4.3

I feel he might crack 4.35 which is incredibly fast, but in the 4.2's is a bit much even though he clocked a human timed 4.2 recently.
He could possibly vault into top 10 if there is a DB need and he runs anywhere around 4.3
Good luck Nate, may you find a nice home in the NFL and be great!

But you out cho dadgum mind.
Nate ain't busting 4.2. Prime Usain Bolt could've potentially done it as he ran a 4.22 some years ago.
Nate will most likely break 4.4 and score in the 4.3s which is still stupid fast and plenty to lock him into the 1st RD pick.

I've already seen him around 10 in some mock drafts so that's not out of the question. A long, fast shutdown corner is absolutely worth a top 10 pick these days.

It's funny how one play impresses average fans to the point they go to extremes. Mukuba isn't a speedy guy in that sense to compare it to. Plus, there's track speed and game speed. Shoulder pads slow a lot of track people down and speed up people use to running in them. It's why CJ was basically uncatchable on a field but wasn't the fastest combine guy., although fast.
Wiggins should be 4.3-4.4 speed at his weight and size. Combined with his play, that's great. And yes, I've timed people at the college level as a strength and conditioning coach before. That's my background before anyone starts.

Well, considering I played and have a background in strength and conditioning, I'd hardly call myself a "casual", but clearly I'm not calling Mukuba slow. I meant not a speedy guy relative to what you'd call speed in college at that level. He's a little heavier for his size, and regularly gets beat. I still like him but speedy guys usually don't get picked on in single coverage

and of course people will always gravitate to the great plays, and that was arguably the best play of the 2023 Clemson Tiger football season...I think it was clear #1 play, effort/hustle and not quitting on that play was the most impressive part.

I coached a kid in high school back in 1997. He was the fastest I had coached in the 24 years of coaching in the high school ranks. He consistently ran hand timed 4.4 at 195lbs. He was getting looks from every school as a RB. He also played in the band at half-time, was a top 10 student in his class. He had what us coaches called "next guy speed", he was faster than the next guy no matter who it was. There was a RB at the time at South Carolina who supposedly ran a sub 4.4 but he couldn't catch this kid. Sadly he was killed in a car wreck coming home from the state fair during his senior year.

If I remember correctly the scouting report for Nate says he should run in the mid 4.2 range. It would be great if he can beat the 4.22 record set by John Ross!!

Since 4.22 is the fastest time ever run at the NFL Combine, I will take that bet for $100. Nate will run 4.4 to 4.55 probably.

Expecting Wiggins to be about the same -- Wiggins may be faster in the 100, but it's all about getting out of the blocks in the 40.

Finally someone who understands 40 times. People conflate things all the time. Speed and acceleration are two different things. Track speed and field speed are two different things.

4.2, I bet they both ran away from him. There is such a thing as casual speed, and then "when you need it" speed. Some guys are merely as fast as they need to be in a given situation to not get caught.

If the bet is whether or not Nate Wiggins can run something that starts with 4.1xxxx, I will take that bet every time. If you're simply saying he will run something less than 4.29999, I'm not as confident in that bet. No human will make that dash in 4.1xxxx, not without wind assistance and cocaine.
