What would your argument be if Cade won the Natty? I would argue that he was better given the cast of players and coaches during his Clemson career. And if he doesn’t, I think it’s possible he has a better pro career.

Yeah, depending on how this nets out, CK2 could be better in my mind than TL16.
He could REAAAALLLY ball out and do some heroics and possibly be better than DW4 in my mind at end of year… but long shot

Trevor "played like a Freshman," in the Natty vs LSU! 48.6% Completion rate. Get Off Of CK!

I’ve never said anything bad about CK. But to compare the two is ignorant.

C’mon… DW4 through tons of bonehead throws! TL16 played with arguably the best DLINE in modern CFB history (not just Clemson). He didn’t even have to be the Leader of the team (the year he won the Natty). And his Recievers were amazingly talented

Seriously, any comparison of QBs is apples-to-oranges, given different O-lines, coaching staffs, etc. But from where I sit, Trevor Lawrence displayed better judgment on the field as a freshman than Cade did last season. I hope he’s improved on that score. Saturday night should give us some insight into that.

Trevor was just surprisingly gifted as a freshman.... beating out Kelly Bryant who had been here before Trevor got here. Trevor was just special in his entire era.
This is it for Cade....he could ball out ....win the whole sha-bang....and still be below Trevor. However...if it was to happen for Cade this year.....then this is Cade's best....for this year. In other words...it took a while to get there......and some lack of coaching had a little part in that.

Understandable .. Except for the point on Kelly Bryant. He was Never a good QB. Vizz would beat him out. So would Brice, Hunter Helms… just about every second string QB we’ve had recently if you put them side by side at the same point of their careers.

Kind of a silly question. Cade's great game against Texas is the only single

example of him being a "great" QB for 4 quarters in a major game. TL has many many more examples and TLaw's floor was nowhere near as low as Cade's.
But none of that really matters now. I just hope Cade built on that game and he has reached his potential. If he plays like he did against Texas for the rest of his career then he will go down as one of the top QB's in our history. But he does not have that feather in his cap now.

Clemson has had what? 4 offensive lineman taken in the draft in the last 10 or so years. Which to me is a testament as to just how good Lawrence and Watson were. It probably also exposed DJU as not the QB he was reported to be. We've had efficient lines, just not all-American lines. If the offensive front improves, I'm thinking Cade's numbers will also.

100%. ETN is the greatest running back to have ever played in the ACC (according to statistics).
I think we'd all agree that Trevor's natty year was one of/if not the best teams we've ever seen.
I feel like there's a strong argument to be made that we weren't better YoY with Trevor and that he actually digressed as a player - still #2 all time in my book of Clemson QBs. A case could be made for him to be #1.
DW4 is #1 bc he got better YoY and won it all with a bang and beat some top dog opponents. + I was a student then... #GloryDays

Yeah I’d have to agree with you on that - Trevor was great from the start, but to see the trajectory of DW4 and the program as a whole from ‘14 through winning the natty 2 years later just can’t be beat.
And seeing it all firsthand as a student definitely helps

Bro stop. Trevor and DW4 are in a class of their own. We can acknowledge that Cade is a great QB without trying to put him up there the goats.

There's no argument. Cade would have to have a 2019 Joe Burrow like season, with a Heisman and natty, to be in the conversation with Trevor and Deshaun. They are just flat out better, and no one who watches them can honestly argue otherwise.
Yes, we have degraded in talent a lot from 2018 and 2019, when we could sleep walk our way to blowout wins. But Cade hasn't shown consistency, the ability to keep moving the chains, or inspire confidence that he can drive the ball down for a game winner.

when Alabama jumped out in front with two minutes remaining, I wasn’t worried…because I *knew* that was plenty of time for Deshaun Watson to lead us downfield for the game-winning touchdown. Which he did—and the rest is history. Cade doesn’t inspire that kind of confidence. He has potential, but he’s not there yet.

CK2 has an impressive story to date, and unique in today's day and age of college ball no matter how this season plays out for him or his and our team.
He clearly arrived ready to win as he showed in the ACCG replacing DJU in his freshman year and put another trophy in our case. He just didn't show up as that 18-year-old already pumped and primed for this level. It's taken time in the crock pot.

Cade is 19 and 9 as a starter. Dabo is more to blame for this. Poor coaching hires and total ignorance regarding portal usage. Trevor and Deshaun had much better talent and coaching during their years at Clemson.

I like Cade but he is not close to being TL or DW as they entered the program ready to ball. I will say they had more talent around them than Cade so it is hard to compare.
My list in order
TL DW4 Woody D Whitehurst Boyd Cade/KB2
Cade can move up with a great season but has to have a great season.

Cade is nowhere near Trevor and Watson. They were generational talents…..and things have not been the same since they left. Just facts🤷♂️
