Have You Baseball Guys Seen This??

Apparently a group of SCar alums are helping to finance a huge indoor baseball academy out in Lexington, SC. That's not the big deal...it seems as though Chad Holbrook is a "silent partner/investor". Facility is massive and it was said it's going to be used to lock down the top talent from sc and beyond for summer teams(almost like a feeder system for scar).
If this goes through it will likely be the straw that breaks Clemson's back in the baseball side of the rivalry. It is set to open in May. It even has the "SC" logo the scar baseball team uses.
I guess the ncaa has bigger fish to fry, here is the link to the site...it does not mention the names of staff or builders, etc.

but did not know who was involved with it.

Nolan Belcher is the pitching instructor
DT Cromer is the director of baseball operations
Yeah, I can imagine there will be a pro-poultry slant put on everything there.

Could Clemson open something in Greenville called "Clemson Baseball Academy" in which JL is an investor and silent partner, to recruit players and teams? Is that sort of thing legal?

There are already 2 such facilities in the Clemson area, just not on such a grand scale. Both are run by former Clemson players. Both have earned a good reputation for developing talent.

These facilities you speak of near clemson, do they have Clemson's logo and does JL back them, that's the question...

It boggles the mind when looking at the current status between the two programs and something that could have a huge effect on the future status brings out the comical hubris of our fans.
It's pretty disturbing, since I was asking a sincere question about the legality and ncaa implications.

I dont see it being a huge aid in recruiting. However, their(usuc)magnificent facilities definitely are.

You people crack me up. Now a Butler building in the redneck mecca of Lexington County is now going to lead to world domination? Give me a break.
Would love to see your proof that Holbrook is an investor. Gossip you heard from a gamecock fan is not proof of anything, other than gullibility.
If Holbrook is involved, which I seriously doubt, he's a #### fool. Nobody ever made significant money off of these operations, certainly not enough for an minority "investor" to get any worthwhile return on investment.
Besides, I have series doubts that such a scheme would pass muster with the NCAA. Holbrook ain't stupid. Why don't you go ahead and write them a letter if you're so sure Holbrook is involved.
Southern Cal does indeed own the rights to the copulating snakes logo. If you have time to waste, go ahead and call them. In case you haven't noticed it, there are travel teams and at least one high school team that I know of that use hats that are virtually identical to the SC team hats. Of course, there is at least one high school in the upstate that uses team hats that are virtually identical to Clemson hats. Who cares?
This is a total non-story.

The "SC" baseball hitting facility means nothing...
Apr 30, 2014, 8:13 AM

....those facilities will have little to no bearing on players going to USC. 95% of all the kids that go to these places will never step foot on a college field, much less at a place like Carolina or Clemson. These type facilities are popping up all over the place to make a profit from parents who are convinced that paying for their 8-13 year old sons to attend will make them first round picks. Also, these places only draw from a 30 to 40 mile radius at best. This facility will have a less than minimum effect on the success or failure of a Carolina or Clemson baseball program. If any college coaches have a stake in these....rest assured it is for monetary reasons only....and history has shown that even that is a gamble at best.

100% correct and I can promise you that Chad is too smart to get involved with anything like this. NewEra, you need to step back from the wall, take a deep breath to slow down your heart rate, and get a grip. The world is not coming to an end and there is no grand conspiracy by usuc to put us down and keep us down at all costs. Winning consistently changes everything.

A silent partner/investor is just that, he does not have to post a billboard on I-20 to back it financially. I agree that these facilities are money pits, however.

But you already knew that too, coot, huh?
If Spurrier helped fund a private facility(best of it's kind in sc) with the help of scar alums, with former players set to give lessons and run travel teams(the main focus of college scouts recruiting) then it would be a non issue to the ncaa, right?
I guess we will see...
