Have been hearing a lot of UGA people in Atlanta......

crying and complaining about the Falcons choosing VB instead of Gurley - as one guy on the radio this morning put it, they "turned their backs" on Gurley like they owed it to Gurley to choose him.
Anyone who's watched the Falcons at all the past couple of seasons knows it's their defense that needs help, especially their terrible pass rush. Sure, Gurley would be a good player for them but a stupid choice strategically for the team.

It would have been idiotic for the Falcons to take anyone but a pass rusher. Beasley or Ray.

I would say Dan Quinn has a pretty good idea what he sees in Vic Beasley, having coached former UGA LB Chris Clemons, Cliff Avril and Bruce Irvin, all similarly-sized players.
Clemons was 6-3, 235 coming out of college. Plays at 255 now and has 37 sacks in four seasons, two under Quinn as DL coach and DC, including three-straight 11-sack seasons.
Falcons DC Richard Smith was Von Miller position coach with Denver. Guy came in 6-3 246 (exact same measurements as Beasley) out of college, has 49 sacks in four seasons, with 18.5 in 2012.
Beasley is a perfect fit at Leo. What he lacks in run support he should more than make up for as the Falcons top pass rusher. They have others that are solid against the run. Quinn wants to be fast and aggressive on defense, and Beasley gives them that. Plus he's a Peach State native who grew up a Falcons fan and gets to live out his childhood dream.

been horrible for them. Instead they took a guy that can be an elite edge rusher in the NFL, something they desperately need, and the Rams made a (probably) terrible pick taking Gurley at 10. I wouldn't draft a healthy running back in the Top 10 much less one has 1 ACL.
