Swinney says coaches love this time of year and they start over in January. But it all builds to this. There are new roles and meetings and summer workouts but it builds to this to get a judgement out on the field every week. Fun to get it going

Defensively they are looking for consistency. Have to improve in the red zone. Not many got to the red zone but when they did the Tigers gave up too many TDs. They are trying to figure out their best four and best eight. They have a good mix on the back end with some savvy veteran guys.

There will be a competition at K, and FG hurt the team especially in the early part of the year. They also feel like they have elite ability at PR. He wants to see P Jack Smith create consistency.

It's all about minimizing the negative plays - fumbles, sacks, TFL - they all have to get better and he has to take that step forward.

Swinney says Clemson leads the nation in close games (8 points or less) since 2011. They haven't done a good job the last few years in close games...mentions if they are just a little better in fumbles last season they might be 11-1

There weren't any close games when we were elite. At least not to inferior competition. Your not gonna win all the close games because the margin of error is so slim. Again, we could have been 11-1, yes. Also could have been 5-7. I hope he is communicating that behind closed doors. Keep it real coach.
