Thinking about checking it out sometime in the near future, unless it gets multiple bad reviews on heah.

Good spot for drinks when the weather is nice. The food is bar food but if want nicer, simply walk to Tavern and Table (same side of Shem Creek) or across the bridge and down to Water's Edge for food.

This is correct^^. I would go for drinks only. They have a good frozen drink similar to a hometeam gamechanger too

Wear your hearing protection. Of course, I guess you young whippersnappers don't mind the noise.

Nice scenery, good outdoor atmosphere. Much younger crowd than my wife and I(class of 81), but we had fun. Just had drinks so can't speak for the food.

I’ve heard the food is ok but most go there for drinks. Plenty of great food options in Shem Creek. Our family usually goes to Page’s Okra Grill.

For food in that area, go down the drive to the wreck

I’m assuming it’s still there. Been a few years

The wreck is there, but not nearly as good as it once was.

The wreck is $35-40 a plate now after taxes. It’s not nearly as good or worth it as it used to be. Go to Tavern & Table if you want great food. If you want great seafood on Shem creek go to Shem Creek Crab House, or Water’s Edge. If you want great music and drinks with a younger college/20s-40s crowd go to Saltwater Cowboys

Never was much for the shem creek spots if you're looking to

Stay in hungry neck, I really like Paige's okra grill. If you don't mind going south alittle, Bowen Island restaurant and LoLos are my favorites.

76’er..eat at any place BUT Saltwater Cowboy place!

Try Vickery’s outside deck over creek..or Red’s..or my new fav named Tavern & Table since upscale inside but still has bar & low seating overlooking creek.

Pages is great. Wife and I took a day trip from Lexington on her birthday in May last year just to eat there. Great food hands down. Great staff!

Page’s Okra Grill is a much better option for food.

I think Gilligans does a pretty good job too. It is not at Shem Creek so the location is not as nice but I like their food.

Oh 76er…Shem has new restaurant opening..

between Red’s & Cowboys..

and believe new sign (covered mostly) was Sunset something.

They were renovating it 16 months ago, so it must be something to behold inside & out but no clue to food quality.

Will be there at a tavern & Table again (last time May 18th) around July 27th to meet oldest Granddaughter visiting from Japan & her Mother to brunch, chat & take a little boat ride on the Creek.

I don't know the area that well. I used to go to RB's,

Jul 11, 2023, 6:33 PM

before it closed down. Saw an article from Feb 2022 that it was supposed to reopen under the name "On the Water". Butt, have not seen anything about that actually happening.

Jul 11, 2023, 7:15 PM

Hang out. If you’re thinking about grabbing food I would recommend Page’s Okra Grill that’s across the street. We live in the CHS area (Summerville) but go to church in Mt Pleasant. We try to go to Shem Creek about once a month. It’s a beautiful area that you just need to visit as often as you can.

Been a couple times only because of ease of pulling up in a boat. Food is so so. Definitely better options within walking distance. Atmosphere is nice but gets loud and crowded. It's for a much younger crowd. To me not a must go to place.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hit up Page's Okra Grill for lunch today. My report is,

Jul 14, 2023, 3:44 PM

pretty good overall. Even though we got there in the heart of the noon lunch crunch, our wait was only 10 minutes, and the place was PACKED. All the staff was courteous and cheerful, A+ there.

For my food, I got the fried seafood platter, which consisted of a flounder filet, a blue crab cake, and a whole bunch of the best jumbo fried shrimp I ever ate. Crab cake and flounder were also good.

For my two sides, I first had the crab bacon chowda, which was merely ok. It may be GREAT as far as crab chowder goes, I don't know. I only gauge against clam chowder, which is a favorite of mine. It was not good as several clam chowders I have consumed in past times. For the second side, I had their signature stewed okra and tomatoes. It too was good, but if I am completely honest, the tomatoes and whatever cajun style spice they put in it pretty much wiped out any taste of the okra at all. There was plenty of okra in it, you could see it, but not taste it due to the overpowering tomato and spices.

Overall, I would rate the place as good enough for a future return visit. Nothing super super special, but you could do a lot worse.
