Oy, all you fellow fescue grass owners lend me a suggestion

So a month ago my lawn was immaculate as I water every day, fertilize when I'm supposed to, etc, etc.
Now that it's been hotter and dryer than Satan's sack the last 2 weeks I'm all lik

I'm getting some bald spots where muh grass is dying. I suspect it's having a heat stroke. Any you gaybois got a suggestion? I feel like if I throw seed at it, it won't do anything since it's so dang hot.

The grass is starved of nutrients and the lack of rain isn't helping

so I suggest you JO over top of the bald spots and spread your seed on them. That should do the trick. If that doesn't work, maybe take a shidd on the bald spots, depending on your diet, that could really help.

DO NOT COLLECT YOUR OWN SEED IN A JAR AND SPREAD IT DIRECTLY ON THE GRASS, THE JAR WILL TAINT (LULZ) THE SEED. IT MUST COME (LULZ) DIRECTLY FROM THE SOURCE.

Forget seeding until fall. You will have zero success in this heat. Focus on keeping it alive through this rather than April green. The grass is trying to go dormant and nothing short of cooler temps and lots of water will change that. You could use a wetting agent in those dry spots and that will help some. Cut the grass tall as in at least 4 inches or higher. Make sure your blades stay razor sharp when you do cut to prevent more water loss. When you do water Noah’s Ark the dang thing so that you’re putting water deep into the root zone. Don’t do the every day 15 minutes per zone crap that most people do.
It’s called a cool season grass for a reason. Every grass has its season and this sho ain’t it for fescue.

Yeah I have fescue and every summer for the past 35 years I threaten to kill it and seed Bermuda. Then comes fall, winter, spring and I chicken out because the fescue is amazing. I’ve managed turf grass for a living for 35 years and I have a love/hate relationship with fescue. I would probably love it more if I lived farther north.

Real, actual useful advice.

Believe it or not, you may be over watering. Water deeply, but only once a week. Twice in temps like these. This will help the roots grow deeper into the ground as they seek the water.

Test the soil, to make sure you are using the right fertilizer.

I suggest you re-sod with zoysia.***

Zoysia is nice but it has its share of problems too.

Yeah, it gets thick and green and you don't have to cut it until May

and quit in September.

I loved my old yard, I have Bermuda now, better than Fescue, but I miss the zoysia.

It’s very nice until it begins to misbehave. But I agree that it looks great when it’s right.

Never had mine do that. Spreads so slowly it was easy to keep it out of beds,

Oh yeah it has plenty of advantages and it’s a great choice. I’ve treated probably 10,000 yards (not an exaggeration). I guess I’ve just seen every possible problem and every grass has its enemies. But zoysia is gorgeous when it’s thriving for sure.

pour salt on it. It needs some flavoring.

Then concrete the whole area and paint the slab green.

It will come right back. Just keep feeding it water so the roots stay hydrated.

It will come back almost instantly once the temps and rain become favorable.
