Simply because he's one of their own.
I remember reading about this on one of their boards last year before our LSU game. A couple were saying he was a little obnoxious in interviews, but they were quickly corrected by others who said they would vote Dabo as their 2nd choice after Saban because he played and coached there and was one of their own.

Honestly, even if that were true, it would be dumb for him to leave Clemson for Alabama at this point. Anyone who comes in after Saban isn't going to be good enough. If he doesn't come in and win the SEC and make a NC appearance in his first year, the fans would break out the pitchforks and torches. If he wants to coach at Alabama, he needs to come in after a firing, not a NC winning coach leaving for perceived greener pastures.

Like john gruden and when they get turned down Dabo might be on a top 5 list. Still don't see it happening. Bama fans will accept who ever they hire and just say "roll tide roll" then shotgun another PBR.
